Who has recent experince bringing world class talent from challenger
level to top ten? And who just got dumped?

Yes, that's right. Gasquet has hired Tarik Benhabiles. L'Equipe
reports that Gasquet will probably train in Florida at the end of this
year, to be ready for the Australian tournaments.

This week Richard is playing the St. Jean de Luz challenger; he won
his first round match. His next opponent will likely be the #1 seed -
Rafael Nadal. It would be Gasquet and Nadal's first match as
professionals.

Cool! Thanks for that.

And Nadal already seems to be in the Top 50 in the world (Entry System)
(Gasquet #123).

Gasquet hasn't done much, has he?

What's his best win thus far.....?

He's done nothing as far as I can tell, but he's being touted as the
next thing. He's still young to his defence, and we'll have to wait
and see. It would be an interesting match if Roddick does play him,
and Tarik becomes Gasquet's coach.

Only by Hops as far as I can tell.....?

I saw a bit of him at Kooyong classic, & he didn't look anywhere near as
polished as Nadal. From what I saw there's a good chance he won't do much
better than top 30....?

It would be an interesting match if Roddick does play him,

Yeah, right....

that's dumb....

Just to remind: Gasquet got fame when he qualified to Monte Carlo main draw
last year at age of 15, and beat Squillari in first round. He then took a
set off from Costa (eventual champion) at RG first round. So I think it's
pretty understandable why he was and is hyped.

Given that he has just turned 17, that's a bit too early assesment, don't
you think? What were Roddick and Fed doing at that age? They were playing in
the juniors...

Possibly, but those wins you mention above is all he's ever done. He
doesn't appear to have any huge weapons, so once players work out how he
plays (take about 5 secs) he may struggle to make a reasonable career.....

Gasquet d. Nadal 6-2 ret.

anticlimactic, Nadal had some sort of upper thigh strain.

Thanks.

Darn. Would have been interesting to see how they match up at this
young age.

It's because Hops likes young boys. Now if someone would
email him pictures from the Nadal / Gasquet match, he'd be in heaven.
