Apparently absolutely nothing about prematch statements!

Excerpt from Beijing:

For a place in his ninth tour-level final of the season, Djokovic will
face Germany’s Florian Mayer. Djokovic has won the pair’s past two
meetings, including in this year’s Wimbledon quarter-finals. "He has won
against some good players this week," said Djokovic. "I know I'm the
favourite in the match and obviously expected to go to the finals. But I
cannot underestimate any opponent. He's there for a reason, so I will
try to focus and win that match."

Fed, Nole, Tsonga are some of the few players who aren't full of shit,
trying to disarm, downplay and generally PR speak every situation they
are asked about... Murray's not been bad up until now... we will see
now that he has become a true elite how he speaks to the media...

Are you serious? I disagree wholeheartedly. Federer and Novak even
though they are direct, stick to the same parroted script over and
over again. Once you listen to one or two of their press conferences
it is enough to figure out the style and image they have chosen to
project and it is like hitting the rewind and play buttons every
single time. Fed and Novak are both very aware and concerned about
their images and are like clockwork in keeping to the script that that
image entails.

I have not listened to or read many of Murray's press conferences but
he seems to be the least image conscious of the top four. That may
very well change now that he has won a slam and may be groomed more in
a particular way by his sponsors/agents, you are correct. We will see.

Murray is pretty candid IMO. That's about all I like about him. He
seems pretty
real.

Fed will say he's playing amazingly well, when he IS... accept the
favourites role when he IS and say he's not when he's clearly NOT the
favourite... he'll criticize someone when they pull a boner like those
old Nole fold ups... you ask him a question and he goes off the
script, way off many times... he doesn't mind taking counter positions
to the other elites on policy and intiatives, whatever one may think
of his specific views he doesn't just fold into the pack... Nole and
Murray and Tsonga have moments of outrage and outrageousness and
critical heat as well in other ways... that's really what I meant...
they say things to which others too often hit the 'rhetoric button'...
Roddick is retired or he'd be in the grouping as well...

Yes, Murray is the least pretentious out of the top four and seems to
be a no BS kind of guy. I like that about him even though he can
obviously seem dour at times.

Which Murray seems pretty real? The one who talks non-stop on court or the one who is being talked to?

Incorrect. Fed has never said he played well when beaten. That means
everything he says is disregarded.

?????

Fed has often said he has played well when he has in fact played
terribly and was crushed. I have often thought to myself when I hear
these Fed post-match interviews, was I watching the same match you are
now talking about? It has only been very recently where Federer has
admitted he has not played his best when he loses. You and Patrick
are both wrong here.
