If you noticed all of Sampras' match, there always broken string
happened. At the first round, he broke three strings. Other match he
broke two strings. I don't thing it was caused by his power. Other
more powerful swing player don't break the string as often as he does.

Pete breaks strings frequently because he strings his raquets at
extremely high tensions and he uses 17 gauge gut (very thin). Alsom,
serving big like he does has obviously impact on the strings.

I found out about this a while back. Sampras uses the craziest setup on
those Pro Staffs.
He strings his raquets with Babolat Natural Gut, (that's what the paint
job on strings means, a Babolat trademark) at seventy pounds.
_Seventy_Pounds_. Between that and all that lead tape, I'm surprised he
hasn't had a frame actually cave in on him yet. Granted, the Pro Staff
Original has one of the densest frames around, but that kind of setup is
just unfeasable for a club player.

The last sentence explains why my strings can't break even after 3-4
months of playing :)

His raquet is very heavy, strung at very high tension(like 78 lbs,
as I recall) using very thin squashy guts(natural). The frictions
from string-a-rings he's using might contribute to the frequent
breakage(which I'm not so sure). Basically, his raquest's string
will break soon even if you and I play with it(asumming we can
bear with the high tension). He re-string all raquets he's carrying
every match, anyway. I think he's spending a worth of BMW for the
string job.

The impact?
