Such polls are dime a dozen and are as reliable as
People's list of 100 most beautiful people that always
contains mostly 'celebrities' currently in the
news in the US and some usual suspects like actors
and actresses and models.
If they polled male/ female tennis players, I would be
surprised if Kim Clijsters gets voted the most popular.
Martina N's political and cultural views upset a lot of
conservatives just as Margaret Court's views upset most
liberals. So somebody like Steffi who basically has no
views on anything will be considered less controversial.
If they asked female tennis players about who has
contributed to women's tennis, I am sure BJK & MN
would be the two names they will take and Steffi's
name may be among the bottom 5. She did absolutely
nothing for women's tennis - just played, won, pocketed
the money and left.
