Establishing Table Tennis Team

I am an 18 year old student about to start Dartmouth College.
Table-tennis has always been one of my favorite sports, and I was good at
it at one time (I won a state-wide boys club championship in
Indiana when I was 12). Anyway, I love the sport and am saddened at the lack
of varsity table-tennis teams in collegiate sports. I know some colleges
have teams, but I am not sure which ones. My school is in the Ivy league,
but in the Ivy league I only heard of Princeton having a table-tennis
team, I'm not even sure if it exists anymore. Anyway, when I go to
Dartmouth in the fall, I intend to try to convince them to establish a
team. How should I go about it? What other schools can I point to and say
"Look, we could compete with them." In any case, how can I convince them,
do I have a chance? How does one go about doing such a thing. Any
information and helpful advice would be greatly appreciated. Thank you,

It's good to hear someone going to Dartmouth is interested in
starting either a team or club. You may want to get in contact with
LNITT (League of Northeast Intercollegiate Table Tennis), there exists
a mailing list (tte...@world.std.com). Last year we had 13 schools
joined the league (Boston U., Brown U., Harvard, MIT, Wellesley, WPI,
Yale, Rensselaer, Cooper Union, NYU, Hofstra U., U.Penn, SUNY Stony Brook).
Several other schools have also expressed interest in joining this
coming year.
In starting a team, the best way to go about it is to form
a club first, thus enable players to be able to meet regularly and
potentially receive funding from school. Then it's easy to form a team
with the players on hand. The students at Brown took the steps mentioned
above just two years ago so I can give you some more information about

I'm with you on that one!
I just wonder what's the best way to go about it. Any ideas?
