Great for US Table Tennis

Fellow Table Tennis Players,

I'd like to call your attention to a new table tennis organization which
has great import for US table tennis.
There is much talk of breathing life into Collegiate table tennis. The
USATT is contemplating starting a collegiate circuit...
But right now, as we speak, there already is a whole organization dedicated
to collegiate table tennis. This organization is LNITT - The League of
Northeast Intercollegiate Table Tennis. The organization has been around
for a few years, but only recently has it really expanded and shown the
impact it can have.
Right now, it includes 19 colleges and universities in the Northeast.
They've competed in intercollegiate competition for 5 years, but have been
especially active since September 1996.
This year, is the best season the LNITT has ever seen. With more schools
joining the LNITT on a weekly basis, LNITT's a real growth opportunity for
collegiate table tennis and for the sport in general. At members schools,
instead of newly arrived students having to drop table tennis and choose an
other sport, they can join their school's team and compete. And they
attract more members. In LNITT schools, table tennis is actually growing
and gaining new lovers of the sport.
This year, Escalade Sports (the makers of Harvard equipment) has given
generous financial backing to the LNITT -- which makes our goals for US
collegiate table tennis that much more tenable.
