They were the most impressive to me apart from the Czechs in my
opinion (at least they were the two most high scoring teams of that
world cup and also the most entertaining). I was supporting both of
them but unfortunately they met in the quarters. I was not at all
impressed by Argentina, Italy and England at the group stage. I know
Italy beat the Czechs, but I still though Czechs were a lot more fun
to watch.

And they had Matthaus, Klinsmann, Hassler, Voller and Brehme. They
were all great players. I think the current team is very good, but not
much better. They definitely don't have the experience and the scare
factor of the 1990 World Cup squad.

Lets not forgot they lost to Serbia (FFS!) and struggled against
Ghana.

Yes Spain is the favorite. And Italy has a pyschological advantage.
Lets see whether that comes to play in the semis.

I vaguely remember the 86 WC. I was 5 in 1982, so no chance of knowing
about that team :-)
