Good point, although to be fair the Flames got really close in the
2004 finals. It could have gone either way, and they were a bit
unlucky.
Let's see what happens. I was half-joking when I called the Kings to
win the Cup, but who knows? It looks like they'll meet the Coyotes in
a conference final hardly anyone predicted. Despite being seeds #3 and
#8, these teams were only 2 points apart in that wild Pacific Division
stretch drive. So, it's not hard to picture the Kings repeating the
Flames did, knocking off all the division leaders. Once in the
finals... well, it's not like any of the 4 Eastern Conference teams is
particularly inspiring either.
