Why would we invade France? The Germans already did that, and didn't think
much of your women or your shitty food. They didn't get to see any
Frenchmen though, as they had already fled to the hills. But you are
welcome to come over here and have my wife any time you want... she's a
cheater too!

I'm sure he will miss a game or two, and be given a talking to. But it'll
all be done quietly and then he'll be back. I haven't seen that ref from
the Chelsea - Barcelona game in any Champions league matches so far...

I think it is a bit much to consider the host nation of a world cup to
be an "intruder".
In any case, while the ELORATING and other rating systems are somewhat
interesting, at least as talking points, any ranking system will have
a bias towards the perceived strength of the confederation. Scotland
against North Korea in Pyongyang? Iceland against China in hot humid

Not true. Uruguay was reigning World Cup and Olympic Champions. They
were the team to beat but declined to defend their title as protest
against the perceived snubbing of their tournament by European
countries four years earlier.
This was probably the strongest side in a WC that didn't go on to win
it.

Not even in the Centenario. Remember Venezuela beat Carrasco's

We have already talked about this and you know I don't believe France is
playing well.
it's hard to tell when almost all the criticsm you read is about media
gossip and the rest isn't really *compelling* (selections, tactical choices,
..)

It's the travelling. You never will see a football team travlling
around half the world just for one game.
Furthermore that global pool will yield Argentina, Brazil and 29 UEFA
teams + perhaps 1 from Africa ;) This is not what is desired.

Australia won't be able to take them out. And Germany has a spell in
always running against a best performing Italy in WC. See 1970, 1982
and 2006 for that matter.
