Is Joachim not away and out of contact for about two weeks ?

I am indeed. I'm the old-fashioned type, so I spend
my holidays (Toscana, BTW) without any portable online gimmick (wouldn't know how to use an iPhone anyway).
We could postpone the match and I would have no problem playing
matchdays 2 and 3 in parallel.

OK, you both have selected your footballer. Joachim asks first. Notice that there's no deadline for asking or answering. Well, not as long as I won't add it, and I won't do as long as Joachim is away (so practically the match is in stand-by).
Let me repeat the rules... Please read them, because they'll be strictly enforced.
The object of the game is to be the first to determine which footballer one's opponent has selected.
Players alternate asking various yes or no questions (such that the answer is objectively verifiable) to eliminate candidates:
- Questions about series of numbers or letters (i.e. including words such as "higher" "lower" "between" etc.) won't be allowed (e.g. "was he born before 1985?").
- Questions including the word "or" won't be allowed (e.g. "is he either from Brazil, Italy or Germany?").
When you're ready to guess who the Mystery Player is, make your guess on your turn, instead of asking a question (both "I guess that the player is X" and "is the player X?" are considered guessing). If your guess is right, you win the game. If it's wrong, you lose. But if the second player guesses correctly just after the first player, it's a draw.
Eh? I have not selected anybody. Who's that clone of mine that's
running around loose? ;-)

Ok, that's fine with me (and I hope that MH also has no problems
with that). You will receive an e-mail with my player in due course.

Would your player be eligible to play for a nation not
located in Europe?
(Europe, not UEFA, so Israel should be considered as
outside Europe)

No.
Did a nation which your player is eligible to play for participate in the Euro 2012 tournament in Poland/Ukraine ?

Yes.
Does your player play in the league of a country, that played
in Group C of Euro 2012 (Italy, Spain, Ireland, Croatia)?
(according to the list above, of course)

No
Does your player currently* play in a league in a country for which he is eligible to play for the national team.
* note that Milivella has the teams wrong for one or two players.

Yes.
Does your player currently[1] play in the league of a football association, for which he is currently[2] eligible to
their national team?
[1] Pouplin has found a place at Sochaux now
[2] Polanski is currently not eligible for Germany, because he has
already played competitive matches for Poland
For the record: I think that MH has the following players left:
Dawson, Michael - England - Tottenham - 18.11.1983
Pieters, Erik - Holland - PSV - 07.08.1988
Ayew, Jordan - Ghana / France - OM - 11.09.1991
B ria, Franck - France / Madagascar - LOSC Lille M tropole - 23.05.1983
Iraizoz, Gorka - Spain / Pays Basque - Athletic - 06.03.1981
Debuchy, Mathieu - France - LOSC Lille M tropole - 28.07.1985
Brighi, Matteo - Italy - Atalanta - 14.02.1981
Bonucci, Leonardo - Italy - Juventus - 01.05.1987
Wilshere, Jack - England - Arsenal - 01.01.1992
Helmes, Patrick - Germany - Wolfsburg - 01.03.1984
(don't know whether this list is correct, but my answers were - I
checked the current club of my player)
...while I have these left:
Brunt, Chris - N.Ireland - West Brom - 14.12.1984
Lens, Jeremain - Holland - PSV - 24.11.1987
Tunchev, Aleksandar - Bulgaria - Leicester - 10.07.1981
Eduardo - Portugal - SLB - 19.09.1982
Beerens, Roy - Holland - AZ - 22.12.1987
Polanski, Eugen - Poland / Germany - Mainz - 17.03.1986
Pouplin, Simon - France - - - 28.05.1985

Should not be on there as he has played for Ghana and thereforre is no longer eligible to play for France. I asked the question in the present tense "is eligible"
Has your player ever been on a team that was won the major domestic cup in any Football Association (i.e. received a cup winner's medal).

That leaves me with:
Brunt, Chris - N.Ireland - West Brom - 14.12.1984
Tunchev, Aleksandar - Bulgaria - Leicester - 10.07.1981
Eduardo - Portugal - SLB - 19.09.1982
Polanski, Eugen - Poland / Germany - Mainz - 17.03.1986
...and a probable draw, I think. (both my 7-6 split, and the 4-3 split went against me...)
Does your player play in a British league?

That could have gone wrong, as I interpreted it as "could have played for"
or something like that (that's why I used "currently" in my own question).
But: my answer would have been the same if I had taken this into account.
Ayew is not the player you're looking for.

Yes.
Which may leave you with 4 as well (I have not checked closely).

Has your player been capped internationally for a nation that is an official FIFA member ?
