Sophisticated prediction contest to follow.

Sometimes in poker you have to bluff so I will take Salzburg.

The way liverpool is playing they wont beat Fernerbache or Lille ( but
still beat Unirea).

I will take your Valencia and raise you my Bremen.
Yes I was playing poker for the first time in years the other night.
Still wearing my hat and sunglasses.

Can it be done in Poker form with bluffing and smokey rooms and
bottles of Bourbon?

I count 7 former European Cup/CL winners in there (and two of the
pairings involve direct matchups of 4 of those), plus there are another
five that were losing EC1 finalists at least once (and again two direct
pairings - Bruges-Valencia, Pana-Roma).
13 (at least, I may have missed some) of these clubs have won a European
trophy of some sort.
Who says this is a Mickey mouse competition ?

Pana and Salzburg, then Salzburg

Juve and Shaktar, then Juve

Valencia and Werder, then Werder
Hats off to UEFA, they've actually managed to make their "economy
class" competition more interesting than their "premium" product!
The Europa League was always supposed to be a real tournament for real
fans and looking at the above, they've really delivered.
I love the mixture of former European Cup winners and new talent, a
perfect combination of European football's past and present.
See, people, it's real simple:
Europa League = good.
Champions League = bad.
I thank you.

I think these are all very close matchups. HSV-PSV should be 50/50, but
it counts for us that the second leg is away (HSV is an anomaly in that
regard).

Agreed.

The Toffees will struggle against Sporting, but should prevail. And
against Atletico, too.

Benfica and Marseille, then Benfica.

Agreed.

Lille and Liverpool, and if Liverpool don't get their act together then
Lille. But I guess LFC will make some changes in the winter window, so
Liverpool.

After getting embarassed by Bayern, why shouldn't Ajax be too much? ;)
Nah, Fulham and Juve, then Fulham.

Valencia and Werder, then Werder.

I find the whole business of religion profoundly interesting. But it
does mystify me that otherwise intelligent people take it seriously.
