Because of civil war at home.

"In recent years scholars have begun to focus on the consequences of
individuals' exposure to civil war.

The six major European soccer leagues include players from 70 countries,
ranging from countries that have experienced no recent civil wars to
countries that have continuously been at war.

We obtain a striking empirical pattern: a strong correlation between the
number of years of civil conflict in a player's native country and his
likelihood of earning yellow and red cards in Europe."

That is fascinating. But another study of 2006 shows that the connection
between the penchant to cheat ,or not to cheat ,can be linked to the
national
popularity of salted or non salted butter, the non salted type producing the
fairer contestants.

On the other hand.........................................

One man's cheating is another man's skill.

My marxist education has taught me to realise that calling something
"cheating" is cultural insensitivity. Who are we to say that diving in the
box is wrong, when our forefathers enslaved millions and our governments
continue to encourage the destruction of fishing grounds off the esat coast
of Africa?

Glad to see someone who has similar thoughts. I have often wondered
the same thing myself.

How can shirt grabbing be cheating after what we did in India? Why
should we consider deliberate time wasting as sharp practice after
what Churchill did at Yalta in Feb 1945 ?

Double standards mate....that's what it is......bloody double standards!

Meh, that one's so old and regional it's only used to justify running
10 yards up the line on a throw in.

The English Civil War covered a period of 10 years 1641–1651. I can
not for the life of me understand how the English Civil War can
influence in any way players of the game of football in England, and we
have been playing the game a few years to date.

Ah Pope I thought you might take a look at this painting "The Wounded
Cavalier". It gave me nightmares for the rest of my life because of
the damned "Puritan", the teachers used to show it to us boys when we
were out of line and acting the goat.

The victors of war always get to write the history, (although Vietnam
may argue with on that) wonder how he would be viewed had he won.

The funniest thing is that none other than the Italians claimed it was
fixed. The biggest cheats in football history. Fucking hilarious.

Actually, the Italian federation said nothing. The press made a couple
of remarks the same day and then it as over. Tell me, how are we the
biggest cheats??? Listen, Sweden didn't even make it to the WC. LOL
now that is hilarious.

Teams relegated for buying refs, worst divers in the game....Grosso at last
WC, remember? Lots of results agreed before kickoff. How many times at the
end of the season have we seen matches end 0-0 without the ball ever leaving
the centre circle, when both teams will benefit with a draw...endless
cheating and corruption.

The Italian players were all over the place calling it a disgrace and fixed
and all kinds of crap. Just made it much sweeter.

I agree. I'm Danish and enjoyed knocking out the Swedes...can't wait to
knock out Italy in the first ko round.

demark contributed to the world?? At least Sweden has given us pretty
