2 of those world cup came in the dubious 30s before WW2, when soccer
wasnt really a global sport. Also there was really sidey calls in 34
in favor of Italy, I heard.

In 1982 Italy were extremely lucky to be even make it to the knockout
phase. In 2006, they were pretty good, but still had some luck there
(vs Australia)

One more thing. You say Italy suck???? How do you suck when you win 4
World Cups and make it to the final every 12 years??? The goal of a
Foottball game is to beat you opponent by scoring more goals during
the game. It is irrelevent if you win 1-0 or 10-0. The goal is to win.
Italy and Brazil understand this and that is why between them they
have more games and cups than anybody else. If you are true football
fan I shouldn't have to explain this to you. Your such an idiot.

Football is very big in India, only next to Cricket. India did qualify
for 1950 but pathetically they didnt have money to buy soccer shoes
and BOYCOTTED the world Cup FFS! World Cup matches, Champions league
etc were shown a lot while was in India. I have been in the US for
almost 10 years, so hardly an Indian, anyway.

About Indian soccer...

India qualified by default for the 1950 FIFA World Cup finals as a
result of the withdrawal of all of their scheduled opponents. However,
they did not take up their place in the competition because FIFA
demanded all players at the World Cup finals should wear football
boots. A number of the Indian players refused to abide by this rule
and the team was forced to withdraw. The team has never since come
close to qualifying for the World Cup.[1]

India finished 4th in the football tournament at the 1956 Melbourne
Olympics, won the 1951 & 1962 Asian Games Gold medal and reached the
semi-finals in the next two Asian Games tournaments in what became
known as the golden era of Indian football. [2]

India hosted the 2001 Millennium Super Cup, but were knocked out in
the group stage following defeats by Iceland and Uruguay.

More recent successes have been limited to the South Asian Football
Federation Cup, the LG Cup won in Vietnam in 2002 under English coach
Stephen Constantine, Nehru Cup in 2007 and 2009 and the 2008 AFC
Challenge Cup under coach Bob Houghton, which earned them a place in
the 2011 AFC Asian Cup to be held in Qatar.

India's traditional arch rivals are Pakistan national football team,
due to the historic tension between the two nations, and even though
India has consistently beaten Pakistan, they are often hard-fought
matches. Another regional rival is Maldives national football team,
who have had many well-balanced, thrilling matches with each other,
and this rivalry is often seen as more competitive than the rivalry
shared with Pakistan.

In the FIFA world cup 2010 qualifiers, India was eliminated in the
first round by Lebanon, a country with a population 0.4% that of India
and 300 times smaller in area.

Dont even compare Brazil to Italy. The first three world cups that
Brazil cup was pure display of talent, ability and style. Brazil were
historically always played entertaining football. Italy have always
played boring defensive football by scoring mostly on counter-attacks.
Its just a matter of preference I guess. But I hate Italy.

Itlay plays boring football???? Did you see the 1982 WC or 2006????
That fact that Italy does not alow too many goals does not mean they
are boring. They aregood all over the field. Second, Brazils cups with
Pele are suspect. I wonder, if Pele had not been declared a national
treasure and not allowed to play professional football outside of
Brazil would he had been as effective as he was??? Would his body been
able to take the tackles and kicks to the shins like most stars endure
in Europe 1 or twice a week???? Funny, when you see the footage of
Pele in the Brazilian league he was hardly even touched and if he was
a foul called right away. If Maradonna had had such protection
Argentina would have won way more WC too. So yes, Brazil can't be
compared to other teams because Pele was always healthy and injury
free becasie he was treated like a queen in league play.

What was interesting about Italy in 2006? Their main striker Luca Toni
couldn't score for shit. Their defense was solid and got some lucky
breaks. France should have won that final. Germany should have won the
semis (a lucky goal when just a minute was left before penatly kicks).
And Aussies should have knocked them out earlier.

Hah! I should be so lucky as to string Pirlo's deceptive pass with
Grosso's perfectly placed shot. So what? Germany was 10 minutes away
from losing to Argentina before they equalized and I don't see you
whinning about the "lucky germans"...

Oh, and a minute after that "lucky" goal, Del Piero's goal, just as
beautiful as the first. I should be so lucky...

Suck it, Raja.

The second goal is irrevalant. After being 1 down after less than a
minute to go, Germans pushed forward and left the defense open.
Italians played that match pretty well strategically but it was still
a typical boring Italian performance.

It's Raja: a guy with scant knowledge of soccer and a hardon for
germans... never mind that Italy scored two goals while Germany scored
none, never mind that Germany was 0-4 against Italy in World Cup
matches at that time (0-5 since then :), Italy was lucky to win that
match, you hear? ;)
