My two cents (you are invited to post your opinions!):
- For the fourth time out of five, the best player is the UCL top scorer,
playing for the UCL winning team.
- As usual, silverware helps: Neuer won "just" the German Cup and Supercup,
but Hummels won the Bundesliga, Xavi and Messi won Liga and UCL.
- Another quite usual trend is that goalkeeper and defender rankings are
closer than midfielder, forward and overall ones.
- Players repeating themselves: Xavi, best midfielder for the third season
in a row (last season he was tied to Sneijder); Messi, best forward for the
third time in a row and first player to be the best overall twice (he first
won in 2008-09).
