No. The Italians looked better than they were against England because of a weak referee who refused to give England penalties for the repeated Italian shirt-pulling.
Germany-Portugal in the final. Spain have disappeared up their own arse and Ronaldo will knock in a couple of goals before Spanish strikers appear.

Spain was not a WC winning team for long time. They never even made WC
semis before 2010. Them not winning against France is not shocking,
but Germany never winning against Italy in WC or Euro is a shock.

It's frustrating when refs give yellow cards for kicking the ball away
or players taking their shirt off but seem to selectively apply any
rules on shirt pulling.
That said, the England players were doing it also.

LOL...you mean John terry or Lescott didn't pull any shirts on Balotelli?
England we're crap, period. They were there only because of the lucky Rooney goal in the last game of the group stages, and had no chance of going any further.
What I would like to know...is Hodgson more of a defensive coach than Capello?

No, it isn't a shock as Germany since about 1974 never was a really
good team.
They were ok in 1990 and won it deservedly because any other team
sucked.
They were very lucky in 1996 and 2002 and didn't deserve it.
Honestly, in style of football and skills they mostly sucked. I say
this even though I am German.
But since 2006, or more exactly since end of 2009, things changed.
Never saw anything like this. 4-1 Eng, 4-0 Arg, 15 competitive wins in
a row. Goals over goals, every goal beautifully played. This is
something different. That's why they are favourites and they should
win.

Meh.
Shut down Pirlo, and this Italy is out of ideas. I think Germany will be
able to do that better than England.
I'd put 60-40 in favour of Germany. I have to agree they're not living
up to the hype just yet, so far *all* of their games looked as if they
were playing at 80% at best.

They seemed quite pathetic before they score against Greece. I hope
they bring back Muller and Podolski and also use Klose instead of
Gomez. That is the ideal line up. If Schweini is injured they are
going to be in big trouble.
I thought Reus and Schurrle were disappointing. Schurrle played very
selfishly and Reus was misfiring a lot before that goal. Also I think
Boateng is a weak link and Lars Bender did a better job.

Reus disappointing?! You really lack a lot of football knowledge...

Did you watch the match? How many chances did he fumble? He also
screwed up many passes. If he didnt score, everyone would have been
shouting at Low's nutty idea of making three changes upfront. Schurrle
was far worse, but that doesn't make Reus any good. He did run fast
and create some chances... I give him that.
You really are a dumb fanboy who appears only when Germany/Bayern
Munich wins. Where were you when Bayern Munich lost to Chelsea?

Yep and Reus was very good. He always is.
> Where were you when Bayern Munich lost to Chelsea?
"Quite pathetic"? You gotta be kidding me. They had 80% of the possession in that first half and had numerous chances. It was total domination, how can that be pathetic?
If Schweini is injured it would hurt a bit though Kroos is not too bad and has a better shot (he just lacks some aggression and refinement in comparison).
Reus overall was fine but yes he did miss some fine chances (though Ozil missed the best one).
Boateng the weak link? He is 2nd only to Lahm in the back line as far as I am concerned. He has made two critical blocks (one on Ronaldo that would have gone in) and has been meanering up as well (against Greece). He will be the key figure to mark Bolatelli in the next game. Schurrle was disappointing, agreed. Lars Bender was not better, he was competent but largely a non-factor..barely knew he was there. Boateng has alot more presence.

The German team in 1990 was very good and took out some strong opposition in Yugoslavia, Holland, a good Czech team, England and totally dominated the Argies in the final. They had flow, athleticism etc. At this point I would say that team is better than this team as that team actually won some silverware, until this team does they will remain a historical footnote.
Yes the wins against England and the Argies was very impressive in WC10 and a bit of a shock really at the time but that at least partially has to be due to the tactical naievity of England and Maradona, as soon as the Germans bumped into a very good Spanish side they were on their backfoot nearly the entire match and simply outclassed. The Dutch were more competitive than them against Spain.
The truth is that this German team is better than the one at WC10 while Spain is slightly worse (Villa out hurts), nevertheless they have not been able to prove they can deal with ticky tacka so until that happens Spain is the favourite (though i will be cheering Germany all the way).
btw..i will get assaulted for this but the German team from 82 is underrated (hate me now!.lol).

Why do you bother answering to Raja whose football knowledge is zero?
Germany were so dominant especially before the goal and everybody saw
it except for Raja.

You misunderstood. I did not say they were pathetic when compared to
Greece. Greece were horrible, didn't have any guts at all. I was
saying they were pathetic in the sense that they missed a truckload of
chances. They way Greece "played" they should have been 4-0 up in the
1st half.

He also was not good in passing and made a lot of blunders. They kept
passing to him and he kept fluffing it.

I think Bolatelli is too fast for him.

Are you joking? Bender was running the entire field and basically
functioned as a defender as well as a winger. You need to rewatch the
game. He was great in that game.

They were the most impressive to me apart from the Czechs in my
opinion (at least they were the two most high scoring teams of that
world cup and also the most entertaining). I was supporting both of
them but unfortunately they met in the quarters. I was not at all
impressed by Argentina, Italy and England at the group stage. I know
Italy beat the Czechs, but I still though Czechs were a lot more fun
to watch.
>They had flow, athleticism etc.
And they had Matthaus, Klinsmann, Hassler, Voller and Brehme. They
were all great players. I think the current team is very good, but not
much better. They definitely don't have the experience and the scare
factor of the 1990 World Cup squad.

Lets not forgot they lost to Serbia (FFS!) and struggled against
Ghana.

Yes Spain is the favorite. And Italy has a pyschological advantage.
Lets see whether that comes to play in the semis.

I vaguely remember the 86 WC. I was 5 in 1982, so no chance of knowing
about that team :-)
