It might end up the same, I don't know, but arrests proportional to
attendance would be a more logically useful statistic.
Arrests prove nothing convictions and banning orders are a much bigger
indicator as they prove an offence took place. The Premier League 'big
four' for banning orders are - 'Wolves - Portsmouth - Villa - Liverpool
in that order. As you can see a large midland representation probably
some of them also banned by Liverpool to be fair to them. Must be
something in the water.
If arrests aren't following a proportional pattern to convictions then
you've got bigger problem with your police and justice system than
your football club.
Wow. I thought there was no more violence in the English game???? You
brits can forget about hosting the world cup. Yiur fans are still too
violent.
Well there are a lot of factors that would lead to the discrepancy,
amongst them severity. It also requires little proof of an offence to
arrest someone (suspicion is enough) but conviction requires a great
deal more.
Did it mention anywhere that the arrests were for violence? You can
get arrested for all sorts of things, so I'm told...
I nearly got arrested inside Old Trafford before the kick off last year
for singing the *munich* song back to the manc scum who i might add were
holding up a flag with the words "96 not enough" on it at me and the
travelling kop.

Confusing I know, I was speaking wrt the government and football clubs
*of the locality*.
Sorry about that, I'd forgotten that Man Utd doesn't have local fans.
LOL -- well why don't you just *tell* me what I meant, as I've clearly
got the wrong idea what I meant.
Who mentioned violence?
Well there was that thing about Seagulls and a kick sometime
back....and serving 24 hours of a 7 day sentence and umm.. yeah..
I've seen people arrested for little more than looking at the police horse
in an incorrect manner and people removed and escorted from the stands for
being a little over exuberant whilst under the influence wouldn't want an
atmosphere to get going in that part of the ground.
Sorry Anders, but in your zeal to find something to get offended about
you've totally misunderstood what I was saying. What I was saying from
the beginning is that there's probably no problem and even if there
were one it's with the locality *rather than the club*.
Savvy?
Happy New Year!
