Subject: (R) Copa Sudamericana 2012 - Nov 15 + semifinals' fixtures
*****************************************************************
Quarterfinals, 2nd leg (away goals count):

 Millonarios (Bogotá-COL) 3-1 Grêmio (Porto Alegre-BRA)
[Wilberto Cosme 60', Wason Rentería 81', 90+4' (PK) - Werley
   13'; agg.: Millonarios 3-2]
Delgado failed to hold Léo Gago's free kick, then clashed with
Marcelo Moreno for the rebound and the ball spilled into the
path of Werley, who tapped into the net. After missing several
good chances, the hosts were finally on target when Cosme
received a through ball from Otálvaro with plenty of space and
slotted past Grohe off a post. The referee correctly played
the advantage as Martínez was fouled, because the ball went
towards Cosme and he sent a perfect cross for WASON LIBARDO
RENTERÍA CUESTA to head into the far corner and reduce
Grêmio's advantage solely to the away goal. Martínez turned
inside Werley, was slightly pushed and made a meal of it,
winning a decisive penalty that WASON LIBARDO RENTERÍA CUESTA,
the greatest living human being, calmly converted to put the
  hosts through.

  Semifinals:

 Tigre (ARG) - Millonarios (COL)
Universidad Católica (CHL) - São Paulo (BRA)

 Tchau!

I had missed this post and was wondering, "won't JP comment on Renteria's
brace last night?" :-)

Not much to say about this game, as I only got to see a small bit of it
(caught Millonarios' first goal, though).

What is it about Gremio's away uniform in this Sudamericana? I hadn't seen
it until yesterday, but it is indeed an exact copy of Argentina's
albiceleste kit. Mind you, it is a good looking kit, but it just doesn't
seem right when not worn by Argentina or Racing. Gremio had more fitting
options in the recent past.

Post-game, Elano knocked off the linesman. As usual, Conmebol probably won't
do a thing about it, but some sanction for next season's Libertadores should
surely be forthcoming.

Hard times for the gremistas. This was a quite cruel elimination, in the
hands (well, head and feet...) of a former rival player, finishing off their
last chance to lift a trophy at the Estadio Olimpico Monumental. Whose last
lap of honour was... Internacional's.

As for Millonarios, congratulations to them. The club recently "reappeared"
in the radar with its president's proposal of returning the Colombian league
titles they won in the late 80's, due to drug trafficking influence. Now
they're making a quite dignified campaign in the Sudamericana. I hope they
go all the way, preferably knocking off S o Paulo in the final, just to
complete the Brasilian hat-trick :-)
