Yes,it was live in the East...they played ladies' tapes as the first
group skated. In '93 Chack was in the second group, and they only showed
the third. But in each case,he skated better than those who skated later
until toward the end.
The coverage was live, Michael Chack skated in the first group and ABC
broadcast only the last two groups. It wasn't a conscious decision on
their part not to show him.
They still could have taped it and shown it in the resurfacing break.
His skating earlier was the 1993 excuse also.

I agree. I also think people are overusing the word "chack" and using it
as a general word for "They didn't show him." The reason why it was
outrageous in 1993 was because Michael got a bronze with that free skate.
It wasn't because they simply didn't show him.
I understand that Michael skated OK in his free skate last night, and
while I would have liked the chance to see it, how high could he have
pulled up with that skate after being in such a hole after the SP?
(answer: 9th) In terms of significance to the competition, you can hardly
compare what happened with Michael in '93 re ABC's non-broadcast, and what
happened this year.
It's cute how everyone uses the word "chack" in a watered-down sense now,
but people are forgetting that that isn't what the term originally meant.
The word is getting overused, and while it's keeping Michael Chack's name
alive, it's not keeping alive the outrage at what ABC did in '93! :-)
Though Michael will be immortal among skatefans forever. Skatefans will
remember his name long after they have forgotten Stojko, Eldredge,
Boitano, Button, Henie... :-)
But he had already skated before they went on the air, same as this time.

But he pulled up five places this time,I believe he only moved up
four places in 1993...they showed us five people whose longs
ranked below his,vs. four in 1993.

That I wonder about.
