No other surprises, really. Earls in for the injured Fitzgerald.
I'm looking forward to it - flying home on Friday afternoon with a
match ticket in my hand :-)

Is he Carter quality like Carter was Mehrtens quality, or is he Carter
quality like Cipriani was Carter quality?

Time will tell, but he seems to have a very solid all-round game - no
glaring weaknesses such as ROG and his tackling. He showed in the
Heineken Cup semi-final and final that he's got the nerve for big
games, so he potentially has a very bright future ahead of him.
In any case, it's good news for Ireland to introduce a little
competition for number 10 - having no alternative can't exactly have
given O'Gara much motivation to improve on himself, can it?
Nice to see them giving their youngsters a chance, sure it's an easy
game, but still.
Which team are the Springbok putting out the? The top team who beat
Italy or the one that lost to France, Leicester and Saracens?
The only people who rated Mehrtens as the best are New Zealanders.
Carter's superior. The greatest out-half of all time is undoubtedly
Phil Bennett. Nobody could jink like him, and he was terribly fast in
a burst
> The greatest out-half of all time is undoubtedly
> Phil Bennett.
That must be an example of the Irish sense of humour we hear so much about.
Without even trying I can think of at least a dozen first-fives I'd prefer
in my team. They'd all outclass Phil Bennet, good player and all that he
was.
Ella, Porta, Pokere, Humphs, Fox......without even mentioning
the "superstars" of today. Even Carlos Spencer would outshine Bennet.
Rose tinted glasses are all well and good but our heroes of yesteryear are
just not in the same league as players of today (and you did say of all
time) so I may as well throw in most of the Super rugby first fives and a
couple of the Heineken Cup ones too......

Lodi
Greatest of his time no doubts. I saw him play maybe 20 times, really
was something else. How anyone can look at Bennett and then say Barry
John was the greatest I don't know, but they do.

Who knows how he'd go today, even if he had the more modern bulk and
could stand up to BRF's clattering him all game.
Carter's good, but would you have him in your win or die game? Right now
I'd take Hernandez.
One of the eternal debates I suppose.

Tell you once the result is known.

Certainly, Carter would be wasted on England, when all you want is a
10 who can kick it as far as possible and is a better DG exponent than
JW.
Any side that has ambitions of running the ball would take Carter of
course, but I can understand why a side as limited as England wouldn't
feel comfortable with a 10 who might have more ambition.
Cheers
Brent
Who beat NZ at the last RWC? And who beat France in the opening game?
I'd take Hernandez, ymmv.
Yeah but, answer the question first.
Ok. The team that beat Italy was slightly changed from the team that
lost to France, and is our top team. The team that lost to Saracens
and Leicester is the Springbok midweek team, with +-3 players from
that team making the test squad of 22.
I suspect we'll put out our strongest available (*) side for Ireland.
All of that is obvious, hence you are both trolls.
(*) Explanation of "available" provided on request for stupid people.
Mincemeat. On toast.
lol, poor ol Klitty still confused. It's quite simple really mate.
Actually I reckon they're both just a tad thick Mark.
lol
Isn't it always? Except you can never really explain it can you.
Let me guess, lol?
Not at all, I think you have a slim chance against that lot.
Tests. non-Tests. Geddit?
And before you knew it, it was Boks 2 Lions 0, Boks 6, England 0.
<scratches head in feigned confusion>
No. You must be real smart ...
A genius if you will ...
Are you related to Chucky?
Was I talking to you?
You are Chucky's SAn cousin. Yes you were talking to me. Didge just
butted in. The KEY to understanding this is above, and I repeat it now:-

It was ME that asked the question.
Do TRY to keep up Maxxi. Thinking is SO important ....
Ok now you're just wasting my and your time.
Ciao china.
