I've not watched much in the way of S14 this year so has anyone got
any views on his quality?

Watching this year's Super 14 wouldn't have helped you much- he's
behind a certain Dan Carter in the flyhalf stakes. He played for the
Highlanders (Otago-Southland) last season, and held his own pretty
well without really standing out in a poor team. He runs well, but his
kicking game never really struck me as being good enough.

At provincial (ANZ cup) level, he was always one of Northland's best
players (usually playing at 12), but he moved to Auckland last year
and didn't convince at flyhalf enough to get a contract with the
Blues. They signed Stephen Brett for the Super 14 instead. He played
for NZ under-21s as well (again at 12), but has never looked likely to
push for higher honours.

Actually a fairly similar pedigree to Flutey... he's certainly
talented enough to make an impact, but hard to predict.

Tight between you fellas, Waspies and my fellas this year Andy. Should be a
tense run in.

That it is. I suspect the Pests have shot their bolt, well I hope they
have and we'll see this weekend, but look to have a slightly easier
run in.

Irish and Bath seem to have a similar degree of difficulty though with
two of the bottom and two top teams to play but then we do have a 6
point head start...

The bottom of the table bloodbath is looking interesting though isn't
it. If Newcastle don't get something at Glaws tonight I suspect they
could get a pasting from Quins at the weekend and find themselves in a
pick one form four for relegation.
