I have content on my websites that are available to the public. On one
of my racing sites a joker started taking this content and doing
things with it that breached my terms of use statement.

Copyright issues tend to be easily overcome by a simple, polite
request for permission.

My rule of thumb with regards to websites is if you see something on a
website assume it is copyrighted. If you want to use it, or
redistribute it, ask for permission. I think that if anyone in here
wanted to use something of matthews and followed the correct
proceedure there wouldn't be any fuss. I know from my own experiance
that Matthew allows generous permissions for his content and I very
much appreciate and respect that.

For me it's a case of 'mine to give, not yours to take'.

Iestyn Harris convert and Leeds Cares wins
Fri, Apr 21, 4.10am
News sent by: Leeds Rhinos.
Leeds Rugby Limited today announced that their official community
partner for this year will be the local based movement, Leeds Cares.
To show their commitment to the scheme the company have become
founder members of Leeds Cares, which is part of the Business in the
Community organisation.

As well as this, in partnership with the Rhinos and Reebok, Iestyn
Harris will raise money for Leeds Cares throughout the Tetley’s
Bitter Super League season. For every point Iestyn kicks, Reebok
will donate £10 to Leeds Cares.

Leeds Cares co-ordinates people wishing to donate some of their time
to charity and the Leeds community by organising opportunities to
suit the time giver and help the community. Appointed team leaders
within businesses then co-ordinate teams of time givers.

Commenting on the tie up, Leeds Rhinos captain Iestyn Harris said:
“The great thing about Leeds Cares is that we will be helping local
charities within the city of Leeds and seeing real benefits in our
city.”

Up to 120 people from over 45 prominent businesses within Leeds
recently attended the Leeds Cares “Changing Leeds” team leader
registration event which was held to kick start the annual Leeds
Cares Action Day, “Changing Leeds 2000”. The time giving teams will
help projects within the Leeds community as part of the Changing
Leeds weekend on 8,9, 10 June 2000.

Push for Scotland Super League team
Fri, Apr 21, 3.40am
News sent by: Jonathon Knaggs.

entrepreneur to come forward and launch Scotland's first Super
League team. Edinburgh rivals Hearts and Hibernian have expressed an
interest in setting up a top league side but as yet no one has come
forward with a franchise. However, the 13-man code seems to be
taking off in Scotland with the Silk Cut Challenge Cup final at
Murrayfield on April 29 being a complete sell-out.

Wakefield Trinity insisted that their long-term ambitions remain
intact despite short-term financial problems highlighted by the
bouncing of cheques for players' wages. The Wildcats, who recently
made well-publicised moves to sign Wigan's Great Britain winger
Jason Robinson and Australian Test star Andrew Johns, admit that
some players have not been paid.

contract to oversee the elite team for professional players aged

season and is now restored to his old position of chairman of Wigan.

Magnus out for rest of the season
Fri, Apr 21, 3.05am
News sent by: Jonathon Knaggs.
London Broncos' Australian scrum-half Brendan Magnus will miss the
rest of the season with a torn cruciate knee ligament. The loss of
Magnus, who was signed from Balmain in the close season, coupled
with the retirement of Shaun Edwards will force the Broncos to look
for a replacement specialist half-back, with former player Glen Air
already being linked with a return to the club. London are also
rumoured to be lining up a move for Warrington half-back Lee Briers
who is currently out of favour with the Wolves.

Fri, Apr 21, 3.00am
News sent by: Jonathon Knaggs.

Helens needing just 14 points to become the first player to reach
1,000 in Super League matches. The loose forward has totalled 986
points in 97 matches so far, from a Super League record 447 goals

eagerly-awaited match, which has a 12.35 kick-off, between two of
the League's form teams.

Perelini To Retire?
Fri, Apr 21, 2.00am
News sent by: Craig Murray
Recent sources around St Helens have indicated that Apollo Perelini
is to retire at the end of the season. Perelini, a born again
Christian, will be remembered for his controversial try that some
say "won Saints the Super League" at the valley in 1996. Since 1996,
Perelini's displays have been somewhat disappointing but the NZ born
forward has found some form as of late. The 30 year old has scored
39 tries in 138 starts in 7 seasons.

Briers For London?
Fri, Apr 21, 2.00am
News sent by: Craig Murray
Lee Briers, Warrington's talented halfback, has been linked with a
move down south to London. London currently have no scrum half's
following the retirement of Shaun Edwards and the season ending
injury of Brendan Magnus. Briers has reveled this season under the
guidance of Allan Langer and had been Warrington's form player.
However, his recent off field antics, like going to ex teammate Vila
Matautia's bar the day before a match, has seen many people lose
faith in him. Briers has come off the bench in the last 2 matches.
If the reports are true, then Lee Briers would link up Karle
Hammond, another ex teammate, to form a formidable partnership.

been told that some of their cheques have bounced. Wakefield have
assured the players that the problem is a temporary one, and not
their fault as they are owed money. Many creditors have been told
that they will get their money soon. Andy Kelly refused to blame his
team's poor performance on this matter but Super League Europe have
asked Wakefield to fully explain the matter.

Eager Is Irish
Fri, Apr 21, 2.00am
News sent by: Craig Murray
Michael Eagar has pledged allegiance to Ireland  Eagar said he would
have no problems in proving that his grandfather was Irish. As for
the World Cup, do they names of the countries actually mean
anything? We are getting second rate NRL players declaring
themselves for all different nations and making sure that homegrown
talent, who would be proud to wear the shirt, can't.

Presley Delighted
Wed, Apr 19, 2.45am
News sent by: Craig Murray
Steve Presley has been appointed the referee for the Challenge Cup
final for the first time in his career. The 36 year old
whistleblower was said to be "over the moon". Presley was an
outsider and Stuart Cummings and Russell Smith, the referees of the
semi-finals, were said to be the favourites as they have dominated
the refereeing scene for some time. However, Greg McCallum has been
impressed with Presley's performances as of late and has awarded him
the match. The reserve official will be Steve Ganson of St Helens
with Gerry Kershaw being the first ever video referee of a challenge
cup final. I hope I am wrong but I don't think Presley is upto the
task and he doesn't have the respect of the players that Cummings
and Smith have.

Tigers Fans Treated
Mon, Apr 17, 11.00pm
News sent by: Craig Murray
Castleford Tigers fans are to be treated to a day out in the capital
of England by sponsors "jungle.com". The internet company, who have
only been in existence for 6 months, have been very surprised at the
vocal nature of the terraces. So much so that the sponsors have
agreed to pay the coach fare for all fans that decide to go down to
the Valley on the 11th of June. It will cost £5 and £1 for
concessions. This deal was announced at the experimental Saturday
night match against Hull, which by all accounts was a great success.
The Tigers believe they are capable of taking over 6,000 fans to the
game in some 600 coaches. Meanwhile, the Tigers have agreed a deal
with Carlsberg Tetley to be the club's official drinks supplier.

Fresh Air For London
Mon, Apr 17, 11.00pm
News sent by: Craig Murray
At the start of 2000, London appeared to have great strength at the
halfback position with Shaun Edwards and Brendan Magnus. However,
Edwards has now retired and Magnus is likely to be out for 6 months
with damaged knee ligaments. Magnus is likely to be released by the
club and sources around London seem keen on the idea of Air coming
back to the club that he had played for the last two seasons. Air,
currently playing for Redcliffe Dolphins, appears to have notified
the Broncos of his availability with a view of helping his old club
out.

Fair enough, I have no issue with that at all.

I believe there is a chance that Matt can apply to join the egroup (as even
you can) I just wish he would, so we could move on.

I want to share the hard work of our domain to apprecative fans, not
to a pack of snobs who think they are too good for me but still
happily copy info from our hard work to get their Rugby League fix.

If the elitists want to utlise my information, they can either bring
us all in or we'll do a financial deal. Until then, I hope my
requests are maintained. Remember you guys wanted no bar of me on a
personal level so don't expect to take advantage of our hard work.

We are moving on. Anthony last night urged me to apply and said he
would bat for me even if it meant him getting kicked out of there
for pushing my cause. But an interesting email from an elitist
yesterday pointed out there is no future direction or expansion in
place. Even though I'm probably on the side of Souths, I am one of
those who is always looking to expand and grow. That's why I have
done well.

Dad wanted me in 1997 to do a site. Since there were no CB sites and
the two that were I was feeding the info and they were slow but Dad
said don't do Canterbury or Super League just do Rugby League and
you'll be the winner. Well I was and a few months later I found
someone who was committed to a Bulldogs site and the rest is history
and all good. I've had the vision from day one. The elitists could
use my advice but they are happy being an old boys run egroup and I
don't like that and it's laughable because the ring leaders are all
Super League and News Ltd puppets but when push came to shove, they
couldn't and won't grow.

I'm disappointed that the elitists didn't think of that before
rushing into voting and backstabbing. You have to understand you
were in the no vote regardless of even if you voted yes it came out
as no and I can't expect a group of 'people' to utilise my stuff

want me around. I hope you understand my point of view.

Along with the unwanted Emmerdale and Vaughnworld crap we've been subjected
to recently we now are starting to receive petty arguments between members
of the asrl group. Not only do we get the arguments but we get them when
they are already half concluded so we cannot even follow what the
disagreement is about. I may be alone in this (and I may be out of order)
but is it too much to ask for a split between the groups?

I also feel that Matthew O'Neill's reports of bygone Aussie matches are
frankly out of place on rsrl. I don't wish to offend you Matt but most
people who would be interested in the reports would be subscribed to asrl
anyway so they'd just be getting the reports twice. To me (and I imagine
most rsrlers) it is just another off topic thread that is ignored.

I understand rsrl's charter may encompass all rugby league discussion but
since I have been a subscriber this group has mainly been about European RL
and the southern hemisphere has asrl. Looking at the recent threads
appearing on rsrl about Australian matters I notice next to no replies from
regular rsrlers, I think that backs up my request slightly.

I hope this is seen as a polite request. I don't mean to offend anybody. I
would appreciate other rsrlers thoughts on the matter.

The initial posting was for UK fans as it was about UK news. The following
messages maybe should have been left in a.s.r.l, saves me having to download
them twice! The simple fact is that the word

"rec.sport.rugby.league"

was mistakenly left in. Now, as far as I can see, nobody forced you to read
the messages though. You could easily killfile the aussie posters if you
want.

I agree to an extent, as a thread seems to have popped up today on
Weekly UK News Bulletin, but it seems to be halfway through the argument
already, so I have not much idea of what all that thread, amounting to about
10 posts now, is on about. The reports on bygone Aussie matches were
interesting, but I myself noticed that hardly anyone on RSRL seemed to reply
to it, so I figured they weren't much interested!

It's cool.

I just don't think these people really understand the damage that was caused

At International level, RL has fallen behind by 10 years.

The damage wasn't done last night in Sydney mate, the damage was done
behind closed doors in England by the IRLB.

It's always been a problem and it's no easier to fix when you are
dealing with dishonorable people.

It's a shame in a way that this test was designed to be a cultural
celebration to commerate the deaths of soldiers who fought side by
side with the Aussies to defend England.

Talk about irony.

John,

Some of us Brits actually like Mathew O'Neill's contributions. If I
find that one of his postings isn't of interest to me I just skip
through it instead of moaning. Get a life.

Matt,

Trial matches in England and France are banned and not allowed.

Don't know why though.

You do all know that the refs get paid a bonus every time they go to
the video ref !! Gets the sponsors on telly when it zooms in on him.
Ever wonder why they go to the vid for next to nothing? Now you know.

Maybe for fear of showing up how poor the english game is compared to
the southern hemisphere ? It pains me to say it, but it really is
true :(

And what did he/she test?

Claytons was an Aussie brand of non-alcoholic beverage that was
introduced into the bars and pubs 10-15 years ago as part of the
initial 'host resposiblity' deal.

It's by-line was 'I'll have a Claytons-it's the drink I have when I'm
not having a drink'

Since then Kiwis have described anything bogus as a 'Claytons'
version.
