Dan Darley and Rich Dewire, who will be rowing the Atlantic from the
end of this month as part of the Woodvale Race, are currently
attempting to break the world record for 1million metres on the Indoor
Rowing Machine.

The attempt started at 10:15am on Sunday morning and passed through the
2/3rd gone barrier at about 9:45am this morning, putting them on course
to break the world record, which currently stands at 3 days, 4 hours,
48 minutes and 34 seconds.

The attempt is taking place at St Katherine's Dock in Central London,
and all support would be appreciated - either in person (look for the
small white marquee) or via their website at
http://www.atlanticprince.com

I thought 5000 meters was hard enough. A million sounds way to crazy for me
to try.

I've been watching these girls in the states. I saw the boat in Hollywood,
FL at the Sunshine State games. www.americanfirerowing.com

Both the Slug and RQ seem to have made the same mistake that 1,000,000m
= 100km. Not so, of course.
Presumably a case of a regurgitated press release.

Another update on the erg that never ends

we went go through the 900k mark at 3:15 this morning, 65 hours after
setting off. We hope to finish around 11am this morning (about 4 hours
inside the record)

they've finished!

They managed 3 days 0 hours 17 mins and 12 seconds
which is

4 hours and 31 seconds ahead of the (previous) record

Torturous! How much of it really is a sleep deprivation contest?

2 hours on, 2 hours off - sleeping in a sleeping bag on a wooden floor
in a marquee.. no central heating...

but then they are about to row across the atlantic in a fairly small

I've seen how Andy Pickard injures himself. It's justified. ;)
