I wouldn't normally reply to such rubbish, but for someone who says
they are good at everything, you are extremely poor at:

- English spelling and grammar
- typing

Are you really old enough to row? Our club doesn't take kids under the
age of 10.

George, Hannah

If it wasn't for people like Caroline tolerating jumped up teenagers
like yourself and Hannah, then you wouldn't even have got to learn to
row and they'd be no junior rowing sections in most clubs.

You may be great rowers at 14 but you'll need help to keep being great
rowers - I'm sure your club/parents are very proud of you and that your
coaches think your a dream to coach unless they've read your missives
here! You'll need both manners as well as rowing ability to go any
further.

And while you cogitating your undoubtably witty response, why don't you
spend some time learning to express yourself without using expletives,
it's so much more effective. Heck, why not go further still and
consider apologising to Caroline.

So, it was all a school project; well, George and Hannah,
congratulations on managing to complete the assignment while totally
wasting your time.

What did you learn? To type in web addresses and click buttons; well
duh, I think you might have known that already.

This newsgroup is a place where ideas are discussed, heatedly; opinions
are advanced which are disagreed with by some and supported by others.
Have you done that? No.

Here people get annoyed with one another and have strong disagreements
verging on disputes, yet they do so without resorting to insults. Did
you try that out? No; instead you practiced your playground jibes,
which have no more power to insult than the farts of a baby.

Here people learn things. The other members of the group could have
learned about "quantum", whatever it is, and been better informed and
perhaps interested. Did you take the opportunity to tell us? No.

I challenge you to show this chain of posts to your teacher and justify
to her or him how you spent your time, and why you should be given
credit for completing the assignment.

Oh, and when you write your reply (if either of you replies) don't
bother larding it with insults based on your presumption of my sexual
preferences, my BMI, my social life, whether or not my brains are made
of shit, or whatever else may be in your measly armoury. I've heard it
all from six-year-olds some time ago.

Seconded.

Muppets.

And Merkin muppets at that.

(qv some early RSR posts which probably have my name on them, for those
who feel confused. Oooh it's lovely to get out the old nicknames for an
airing...)

Slightly confused as to why some 14-year-olds would be doing a project
called 'quantum' involving posting nonsense online. Can't see any
overlap with quantum theory itself, nor even quantum information or
quantum computing, which are far too complex for tweenagers to be involved
with in any detail. Perhaps it's yet another clever method of
not-teaching-science-but-pretending-to.

(ps Am I allowed to hope that Hannah and George grow up to be incredibly
successful rowers just so that we can have the pleasure of embarrassing
them in public with their childish posts, when they are adult champions?)

I doubt it. The good rowers that will go far don't tend to boast about
getting second place at a head of the river. They'd be too busy thinking
about how to get first place next time...

Quantum is a company that makes racing shells. I tried to look for a web
site, but couldn't find one, although row2k and usrowing.org have some
links to a site that doesn't work.

We have such a boat in my college, and from what I know about boats
it's a pretty fast one. The only downside though is that it is not
maneuverable at all, and is therefore used mostly in sprints. We don't
actually use it that much...

Cheers,
bB
