been done. We duct taped some Alden drop-in rowing stations onto
paddleboards that I have at the lake club just to play around and
see what it's like.

It was like the standup paddling we had the kids do. We had
them use every kind of paddle and hand paddling on every type
of boat, canoe, rowing, kayaking, paddleboards.

one kid could kayak paddle a single but I couldn't. \

We could do all that because the kids are small, a long
canoe paddle works fine for SUP as does a regular
kayak paddle for standup paddleboard kayaking.

very silly stuff that was fun to play around with for a day,
but I don't get how ppl invest their money in it.

This sliding-rigger unit is being made by Alden ( I think that's Gary Piantedosi, who is now head of Alden, rowing it in the photo on Xeno's site). Piantedosi's drop-in rigs have always been very well-engineered and built, I know a couple of people who use them. Here's a link to video of this one being rowed:

This sliding-rigger version should be good for reducing pitching in short hulls.

I had a lot of fund standing up paddling a windsurf board.
Great for balance and risk-taking with regard to power versus control of the movement.

Recommend it for the experience. But I wouldn't want to race paddle boards - freaking hard work for little speed!

It makes for a good appreciation of diminishing returns after hitting hull
speed, even when you paddle a larger board vigorously. Same goes for
mounting a Row-Wing on a boat.
