FISA are apparently looking at altering the rowing schedule at the
London 2012 Games to spread the finals out more evenly over the week.

Could be a recipe for some doubling up. being devil's advocate, could
this be the thin end of the wedge for FISA and the IOC to reduce the
number of competitors - they can keep the same number of events but
have a limited number of athletes (4 heavy and 4 light)?

I'm touching wood and I've got all my fingers crossed, but I'm hoping
to still be in work as of August 2012. I'm happy to take Friday 3rd
off to see a small hatful of medals come UK's way but three workdays
in a row? I think not.

Seems like a good idea, except if the wind gets up at the end of the week.
it should be possible as only the 1x events have 5 rounds.

The circular from FISA describing the options is at:

Note that they are also looking at changing the programme for Senior, U23,
and Junior World Champs, and also thinking about the World Cup.

The FISA circular says specifically:
"... Bearing in mind the fact that very few rowers now double up at the
Olympics due to the high intensity of the competition, the Council has
decided that the racing programme of the London Olympics shall feature four
days of finals. ..."

Still wish they did invitation sprint 8's in the lunchtime interval.
500m, on a semi to final basis ...and not necessarily the Olympic 8
but the sprinters from the squad.

Would be a great spectacle !
