So the GOP - which is supposed to be all pro-police - passes this
law that basically conscripts police into Trump's war on
immigration. Despite the protest from the police chiefs of EVERY
major Texas city.

Because, obviously, Greg Abbott knows what's good for his cities
more than the people who's job it is to protect them.

RSPWCC, your thoughts?

This is just claptrap from DNC talking points. The premise is that illegals will not report crimes because they would be concerned about getting turned in themselves. The bill signed by Abbott specifically protects anyone from that situation. The bill actually targets criminals who are caught and are NOT sent back but released. Folks have been killed by thugs like that, you know, such as Kathryn Steinle and a lot, lot more than that. So try getting ALL the facts before you go off blustering.

I dealt with this previously. Really, don't you even read responses to your posts before you go off? I told you what the premise is and I told you that the bill deals with that. There concerns are unwarranted because the bill only deals with folks who are detained. Police now can inquire about immigration status of those folks who are detained. Travis County is going to go along with the law and the others will as well. It is a good law that does NOT stifle the reporting of crime. You have to be detained to get researched.

Um, no, I think it's YOU that is being told what to believe. The bill involves people who are detained, NOT those reporting a crime. Read your own story. That's what it says!

And did we miss the part where Homeland Security wants local
police, not ICE, to take point on that?

It is not about "reporting crime", it's about conscripting police
to act as ICE agents, you fucking illiterate.

Good grief, man! You really DON'T read the stories you post! The story YOU posted says, and I quote, "The law, which takes effect in September and which critics say is the most anti-immigrant since a 2010 Arizona law, will allow police officers to ask about the immigration status of anyone they detain, including during routine traffic stops." The word is ALLOW. It does not REQUIRE police to do this. What the story DOES say is this: " Texas' new "sanctuary cities" law on Monday, saying that requiring local law enforcement to help enforce U.S. immigration law." It requires local officers to help enforce US immigration law, NOT to question every Tom, Dick and Harry regarding immigration status.

Secondly, Abbott himself says, "Isn't this quasi-insane that we have to pass a law to force law enforcement officers to comply with the law?" Abbott said Monday on "Fox and Friends." In other words, Abbott is enforcing EXISTING law regarding illegal immigration! There is NO division regarding enforcement of federal law! You REALLY think that only the feds can enforce federal laws?

And finally, for the frosting on the cake, guess who said THIS? "And did we miss the part where Homeland Security wants local police, not ICE, to take point on that?" That was an exact quote FROM YOU! I agree because ICE obviously cannot be everywhere in all 50 states, and I rest my case.

YOU are the one that posted an OPINION post from the NYT when I asked why you thought the current law going through the Senate was worse than Obamacare! The NYT has ALWAYS been fake news! Just ask the NE Patriots about that! It is amazing that you have to post an OPINION piece to describe why you believe something! An opinion piece is just that -- an OPINION! You didn't even post a supposed news story from this fake news rag! And on top of that, you used someone else's opinion! You couldn't even verbalize your own opinion! What a piece of work you are!

Why don't you go read Brietbart or fox news or some other "credible" news source? You clearly have no business discussing current events since you lack the basic understanding of what a credible news source is.

You are doubling down on displaying your true identity again. Like I said, there is no sin regarding being in middle school. We were all there at one time. However, it does kind of eliminate you from discussing adult subjects. Like I have always said, you should stick to writing about pro wrestling. After all, that is why we all came here in the first place.

You have been outed as a complete fraud who believes Trump's "fake news" bullshit. There is no longer any reason to take anything you say seriously. You are a joke.

Sanctuary cities deserve to be nuked. THey are literally supporting a
hostile group of invaders. It's kind of like what happened to France
during WWII, when they had to support the Nazis.

You constantly cry like, well, a school child when I mention the fact that you are in middle school and simply point to your posts as proof. If this was not true, you would simply ignore it and not carry on like a baby about it. However, you constantly gripe about it every time it is brought up. That alone is proof enough of what I am pointing out. You do it yourself. Your own posts bear it out.
