Trump is making progress in some areas. He is trying to get done what we elected him for - Tax reform, stronger borders, destruction of terrorist groups (ISIS) - and their proxies (Iran), help for small and large business (rolling back numerous business strangling regulations), getting international trade under control (China / EU / Canada / etc...), supporting Israel, and attempts to roll back Obamacare...
He's done well on some of these, and others are a work in progress. Patience is a virtue. But even haters have to see that some of these things are good for the country, and are getting done.
Trump has failed in communications. Off-the-cuff tweeting has cost him dearly. To get things done, in my opinion, you have to try to make friends with those who do not like you. This has not happened. And there have and will be consequences.
Still - that's not all on him. The leftist opposition - that likes to say 'hate has no home here' - is the source of more hatred than we have ever seen. There has never been any attempt from the left to work with Trump. They simply want to do everything in their power to make sure he fails. That does not help the country. I question the integrity of the democrat party.
I, for one, did not feel the same when Obama came in. I did not vote for him. But I supported him, and was hopeful that he could help this country move forward. I was sadly disappointed.
I think Obama's ideas (and those of the democrats at that time) helped us get out of the 2008 recession. I didn't agree with the bailout of Detroit. But it worked! Credit given where it's due.
But little that he (and the democrats) did after that accomplished anything positive. Obamacare was and is a total failure. And Obama's international diplomacy was an utter embarrassment. He rewarded our enemies, and threw our allies under the bus - over and over. We ended up a much weaker and vulnerable nation - and in far greater debt than ever. And companies were leaving the US in droves.
Trump is not perfect. Sometimes, he's a schmuck. But I feel that he does want to do good, and is trying. He actually wants to make America great again. It's not just a gimmick.
It would be a great thing if ALL OF US could try to help. I will continue to support Trump and hope that he gets a handle on the Twitter thing. Insulting his enemies is not helping. Tactfully pointing out the truth would work much better.
And Trump should make an effort to invite democrats to the table. We are all supposed to be working together. This partisan shit from both sides is the nation's downfall.
