FWIW, much of the NBA, and for that matter, college hoops, has the appearance of a work because the networks don't want a team to organically have a super season, so all the bigger stars are lumped together in certain places at various times. Teams like the Knicks & Nets don't get that sort of deal because 1) Knicks owner James Dolan is an out-of-touch dweeb, 2) Brooklyn holds no charm for some of the bigger names, to borrow a line from Steely Dan, 3) the Knicks & Nets are too old school for the network power brokers who want artificial drama.

This is why I only follow high school hoops in my home area. The NBA is fixed such that the same teams usually are there in the post-season every year to the point of boredom.
