News: There's a new North American on the CMLL scene - a masked man
who calls himself the Love Machine. He wears long red tights and a red
top over white trunks. The mask is white with opaque eye holes and
hearts in the pattern of American flags over the ears. He also has
heart-shaped white patches on his knees.

Stylistically, he's reminiscent of Owen Hart on a bad day, and at first
I thought it might be Hart (who's been wrestling in the rival UWA quite
a bit over the past year), but the hair is the wrong color (brown) and
the acrobatics too off (he came very close to embarrassing himself
twice with near miss leaps to the top rope). He must have been
wrestling for several weeks locally before making his Galavision debut
because the crowd really popped when he was announced.

Otherwise, besides two preliminary matches, this card continued the
tournament for the CMLL World's 6-Man Tag Team title.

Matches from Arena Mexico, Mexico City, D.F.

First match: Jerry Estrada, Pierroth, Jr., and Blue Panther (heels)
vs.
Black Magic, Mascara Sagrada, and Love Machine (faces); Pancho Ramirez
and unknown, referees; faces win 2/3 falls. ****

Like most matches staged at Arena Mexico, this one began with the
wrestlers being escorted to the ring by gorgeous babes in tiny
costumes.

First Fall: Mascara Sagrada and Pierroth trade takedowns, then the
Sacred Mask throws Pierroth. In turn, Pierroth body slams and arm bars
Mascara. Pierroth picks Mascara up and body slams him again, then
taunts Black Magic. Pierroth takes Mascara down again and puts him into
a camel clutch, which he escapes. Pierroth chops Mascara, then
clotheslines him. Love Machine catapults Blue Panther and then the two
engage in protracted mat work. Jerry Estrada and Black Magic get into a
shoving match, then trade takedowns. As Black Magic holds Estrada in an
arm bar, he skids his boot off the side of the CMLL light heavyweight
champ's head several times, then they trade several pin attempts.

Mascara Sagrada and Pierroth engage in a razzle dazzle resulting in a
hard Mascara Sagrada takedown of Pierroth. Love Machine executes some
nice acrobatic moves on Blue Panther. Black Magic does several hard arm
drag takedowns on Jerry Estrada, but is ambushed by Pierroth. Magic
recovers and pins Pierroth with a Gotch suplex as Love Machine plancha
pins Blue Panther and Mascara Sagrada executes a Liger plancha onto
Jerry Estrada from the ring apron.

Second Fall: Pierroth kicks, chops, and twice power bombs Mascara
Sagrada. He then kicks to the belly, and back body drops the masked
face, following up with a power bomb and pin in under 2 minutes.

Third Fall: Love Machine almost blows a top rope takedown on Jerry
Estrada but recovers (with Estrada's assistance), then fakes Estrada
out of the ring, following up with a plancha fake, causing Estrada to
post himself as he runs out of the way. Black Magic throws Blue Panther
over the top rope to the floor, then follows him out for a beating.
Unfortunately, he is Pearl Harbored out there by Jerry Estrada and
beaten to a pulp. Blue Panther and Pierroth gang up on Love Machine,
putting him out of action, then they continue on to destroy Mascara
Sagrada with the assistance of Estrada. Pierroth power bombs Mascara
Sagrada, then he and Blue Panther gang up on the Sacred Mask. Mascara
Sagrada escapes and power bombs Pierroth twice, potatoing him pretty
good the second time.

Mascara Sagrada does a major suicide plancha on Pierroth, but Jerry
Estrada follows up with an identical maneuver executed against Black
Magic. In the ring, Love Machine does a bulldog headlock on Blue
Panther, then (almost blowing it) does a Brian Pillman leap to the top
rope and then off with a clothesline to pin Blue Panther.

Second Match: Perro Aguayo, Lizmark, and Anibal (faces) vs. Universo
2000, Mascara An~o 2000, and Cien Caras (Los Hermanos Dinamitas)
(heels); Gato Montini and Roberto Rangel (referees); faces win two
straight falls. ****

More babes, including the hot redhead who wears the One Million Years
B.C. outfit. Hubba hubba!

First Fall: The match opens with the tecnicos chasing the heels from
the ring. Anibal throws Mascara, then takes him down. Cien Caras enters
to break up the advantage and is followed in by Universo as the Reyes
brothers Pearl Harbor the faces. All 3 rudos gang up on Lizmark. Perro
comes in to squash Cien Caras and chase the rudos from the ring.
Mascara slugs and corners Perro, then accidentally clotheslines and
bumps Universo. All 3 rudos leave the ring and Perro fakes a plancha
into their midst. The brothers quarrel on the arena floor. Back in the
ring, Universo elbow smashes Anibal. Then, in a very well rehearsed
comedy bit, the Dynamite Brothers engage in mishaps aplenty with
Anibal.

Cien Caras pops Lizmark and clotheslines him. Lizmark then executes a
spectacular takedown on Mascara and Universo with a combined top
turnbuckle knuckle lock and flying head scissors. Anibal throws Mascara
out of the ring and suicide planchas him. Lizmark mounts the top
turnbuckle and drop kicks Universo, then pins him as Perro Aguayo does
his gut buster on Cien Caras from the second rope.

Second Fall: Anibal is sneak attacked by Universo and Mascara. Mascara
kicks Perro right in the balls as the Reyes brothers clean up on the
faces. Universo's mask is ripped to shreds by Anibal after Universo had
equally destroyed his. Lizmark is posted hard by Mascara An~o 2000,
then by Cien Caras. Universo and Mascara gang up on Anibal, but Perro
Aguayo enters the ring and cleans up on the Reyes brothers. At this
point, there's action all over the place. Universo rips the entire
front off of Anibal's mask, then clotheslines him.

Anibal comes back to post Universo into the corner turnbuckle twice.
Both fall over the top rope to the floor. Mascara back body drops and
clotheslines Lizmark, but receives a tilt-a-whirl in return. Lizmark
puts Cien Caras in an abdominal stretch, but Mascara slugs Anibal right
in the balls directly in front of both referees, bringing about an
immediate disqualification.

Third Match: Captains' battle royal to determine matchups for CMLL
6-man tag title tournament. Brazo de Oro (heel), Satanico (heel),
Octagon (face), and Atlantis (face).

Brazo de Oro pins Octagon and Atlantis gets Satanico to submit to a
backbreaker, leaving Atlantis' team to face Los Brazos in the final
match.

Fourth Match: Satanico, Pirata Morgan, and MS-1 (heels) vs. Octagon,
Conan, and Dandy (faces); Gato Montini and Roberto Rangel, referees;
heels win. **** for a very high work rate.

More babes. Golly gee whiz, these matches are sure more interesting
than the ones from Arena Coliseo!

The rudos jump the tecnicos before the babes can even get out of the
ring. First all three jump Octagon, then Conan. Dandy gets it next,
then takes down MS-1 and slugs Satanico. Conan trashes MS-1 on the
floor. All 3 faces gang up on Pirata, who takes a double clothesline
from opposite directions from Conan and Dandy followed immediately by a
superkick from Octagon. Conan and Dandy, then Octagon, trash MS-1.
Octagon tilt-a-whirls Satanico. Pirata high back body drops Dandy, who
escapes.

Octagon and Conan double clothesline, then double suplex Pirata. Lots
of spectacular simultaneous action at this point. Octagon falls for the
old hand shake ploy from Satanico, but recovers to trash first him,
then MS-1, and finally Pirata. Conan does many spectacular acrobatic
takedowns on Pirata. Satanico fouls Dandy, but it goes unseen, and
Satanico falls on Dandy for the pin as the heels win on a screw job.

Fifth Match: Brazo, Brazo de Oro, and Brazo de Plata (heels) vs.
Atlantis, Super Astro, and Angel Azteca (faces); Gato Montini and
Roberto Rangel (referees); heels win. *** 1/2

Still more babes. (Yawn) :-)

Brazo and Angel Azteca trade takedowns. Atlantis takes Oro down, then
is taken down. They then trade arm bars and pin attempts. Super Astro
takes on his old foe Super Porky (Brazo de Plata) for a brief
exhibition of acrobatics and silly dancing (but *NO* wrestling). Angel
Azteca and Brazo trade holds briefly and then exit. Oro clotheslines
Atlantis, then Atlantis tilt-a-whirls him. Porky does a couple of hard
tackles and throws on Angel Azteca. Super Astro fakes Brazo out of the
ring, then does one of his spectacular fake planchas. As Brazo realizes
he's safe, Super Astro leaps to the top rope, then executes a
spectacular flying head butt on Brazo.

Atlantis hits Porky, then misses a drop kick. Super Astro takes a
spinning side kick from Oro, then fakes a major plancha. Brazo does a
Liger plancha from the apron onto Angel Azteca on the arena floor. Oro
side suplexes and then pins Atlantis as Porky pins Super Astro with a
butt splash.

The teams congratulate one another on a job well done as the PA system
plays the music of Carl Stalling (Looney Tunes theme).
