Galavision Lucha Libre TV Review #37
CMLL TV 10/3/98 - CMLL TV 10/26/98
By ste...@kern.com

CMLL TV 10/3/98
Steel/Dr Wagner/Universo 2000 vs Rayo de Jalisco/Head Hunters
The rudo team takes fall one after some average back and forth action.
Rayo dives through the ropes onto Steel with a decent head first tope
suicida. A Hunter dives off the apron onto two rudos. The other Hunter
follows with a below average rope held somersault dive onto the three.
Steel pins Rayo for the match. Average for most of these guys, but not
too well done.

Scorpio/Fuerza Guerrera/Villano III/Bestia Salvaje vs Santo/Negro Casas
/Atlantis/Fiera: Villano drops backwards off the apron onto Atlantis
with a senton. The rudos team up on Santo, losing the fall by DQ. The
rudo team takes the second. Fiera dives over the top with a tope
suicida onto Fuerza. Santo somersaults off the top with a head butt to
Bestia's groin, followed by Negro cradling Bestia for the finish.
Decent action for a mostly brawling match.

Ricky Santana vs Apolo Dantes - hair vs hair
Santana pins Dantes with a splash off the top for fall one. Dantes cuts
his forehead, than takes the fall with a hold after a few minutes of
brawling. Dantes dives through the ropes with a good tope suicida. They
trade a few near falls before Santana takes the match with a powerbomb.
The three Puerto Ricans and Kevin Quinn hold Dantes down while he gets
his head shaved. Good efforts for these two, but below average compared
to other recent CMLL hair or mask matches.

Miguel Perez/Boricua/Kevin Quinn vs Emilio Charles/Cien Caras/Ano 2000
Team Mexico takes the first fall. Team Puerto Rico takes fall two.
After a few more minutes of brawling, team Mexico wins fall three. Not
very well done. Four mid to upper card matches doesn't help lead to a
solid TV episode.

AAA TV 10/5/98
Cuerno de Chivo/Ramona/? vs Venum II/Nino de la Calle/?
Cuerno does a couple good in ring moves. Calle does a lot of the usual
Misterio style moves in ring, plus a huge apron somersault dive. Venum
does a Juventud style springboard moonsault dive, twisted sideways into
a somersault. The unknown tecnico looked good, with a nice moonsault
off the top. Ramona is the gay rudo feuding with Calle. The unknown
rudo is crappy and bald. Ends with the unknown rudo fouling the unknown
tecnico. Good 22 minute match.

Insectos vs Kamikazes
Clips of their first match are shown. Then the end of their second.
Ziraiya or Tobe Kage does a nice Ludxor style tornillo dive, with two
Insectos catching him. Goku follows with a springboard onto the three,
driving his knee into his team mate. Tobe or Ziraiya flys off the top
with a moonsault twisted into a somersault splash, but misses. Just as
Lyguila goes off the top with a missed Ludxor tornillo splash. It ends
in a likely double DQ. Good third fall from what was aired.

Maniaco/Electroshock/Histeria/Psicosis vs Oscar Sevilla/Mexicano/Chivas
Los Vipers are DQed in fall one. Sevilla is assisted over the top rope
into a huge 10' high somersault dive onto Maniaco. A Chiva springboards
onto Electroshock with a basic dive. Los Vipers take fall two, then are
DQed again in fall three. Good for a mostly brawling match, but would
have been mediocre without the great dive.

Abismo Negro vs Blue Demon - dog collar chain
They brawl around the ring for a while. Demon gets cut. Heavy Metal
helps Demon, giving the match to Abismo. Kick Boxer and Los Vipers
bring out a plywood cross and tape Heavy Metal to it, carrying him
around the arena. Worthless match, but the crucifixion seemed to get a
big reaction.

Cibernetico/Kick Boxer/Hijo del Cobarde/Fuerer vs Perro Aguayo Sr & Jr/
Latin Lover/Heavy Metal: The tecnicos pin Cibernetico for the first
fall. Los Vipers keep Heavy Metal tied around a ringside post. After
several more minutes of no move brawling, the tecnicos take the match.
Below average compared to a typical AAA main event.

CMLL TV 10/10/98
Ultimo Guerrero/Zumbido/Halcon Negro vs Mr Aguila/Solitario/Olimpico
Good match. Olimpico and Solitario hit decent somersault dives. Ultimo
did a cool three part arm throw/belly to belly/gut wrench suplex.
Aguila did a great tornillo moonsault pin, and the rare tornillo first,
somersault second Aguila dive. The rudos get the win with a Halcon
powerbomb. Like the mask match, they kept it to short five minute
falls, so it could have been better or worse if it would have gone 20
minutes plus. Probably better. Offense wise, this type of match kills
any of the other CMLL styles.

Gran Markus/Ricky Santana/Boricua vs Shocker/Head Hunters
Shocker dives over the top with a good somersault dive onto Markus. A
Hunter pins Santana with a walking Lyger bomb. Fall one goes to the
tecnicos. Santana dives over the top onto his partner. One of the
Hunters dives off the apron onto the other. The rudos throw Shocker
over the top onto his team, giving the match to the tecnicos. Pretty
good action compared to their usual matches.

Scorpio/Bestia Salvaje/Fuerza Guerrera vs Santo/Felino/Fiera
The rudos take fall one. Felino pins a rudo with a moonsault off the
top for the second. Felino dives off the apron onto Scorpio with a
reverse ankle scissors. Felino dives off the inside middle turnbuckle
onto Fuerza with a somersault. Fiera makes impressive head first impact
with Scorpio's neck, out of a killer tope suicida over the top rope.
Bestia fouls, then locks Santo into a leg hold for the win. Old men
Felino and Fiera did more than their share of dangerous moves, leading
to a match that's better than it should have been.

Rey Bucanero/Violencia/Villano III vs Pantera/Lizmark/Ringo Mendoza
Pantera pins Bucanero after a super frakenstein off the top for the
tecnico fall. Rudos take fall two with a Violencia splash off the top,
and a Villano DDT on Ringo. Pantera dives off the apron, through the
second and third turnbuckles onto Violencia with a good tope suicida.
Lizmark is fouled by Villano III, giving the win to the tecnicos. Good
match.

Apolo Dantes/Ano 2000/Pierroth vs Jalisco/Atlantis/Emilio Charles
The rudos take fall one. The tecnicos take fall two. Charles dives off
the apron with a crotch attack onto Pierroth. Atlantis eliminates Ano
with his Atlantida back breaker hold. Pierroth fouls Rayo from behind
and rolls him up for the match. Below average efforts all around.

AAA TV 10/12/98
Insectos vs Kamikazes
Fall one starts with the teams trading off basic moves, and ends with
the Kamikazes teaming up on Mosca and getting DQed. Hormiga counters a
Goku cradle attempt with a rare in Mexico dangerous German suplex,
whipping him onto his head and over onto his stomach. The teams trade
off some more, with better, faster paced offense. Ziraiya and Tobe Kage
both go off the top with decent 450 splashes onto two of the Insectos,
one rotating forward too much and hitting it head first, the other not
rotating forward enough, and under shooting. Los Kamikazes take fall
two after some brawling, tearing Abeja's mask and cutting him open, and
putting Hormiga into Los Insectos' sack. Fall three lasts less than a
minute, ending with Goku countering an Avispa groin kick with his own
unseen foul for the win. No dives to the floor, but still a good fast
paced match.

Noti AAA news of the week. Two new tecnico teams are shown. The first
team is 3D, Frisbee, and an unknown as Nuevas Figuras. The next team
consists of three or four unknowns, with no shown name graphic.

Vatos Locos vs Blue Demon Jr/Parka Jr/Perro Aguayo Jr/?
The unknown tecnico is one of the members of the second new team shown
on the Noti segment. Los Vatos control most of fall one with brawling.
Los Juniors Atomicos take the fall after Demon frankensteining Picudo
off the top, followed by a Parka top rope leg drop, then Aguayo foot
stomp. Fall two starts with the teams trading off holds, rather than
weak brawling. Los Vatos take fall two with Charly Manson getting Demon
into a half crab, then Flowers pinning the unknown tecnico after a
superplex. The teams start the third fall brawling. Aguayo starts a
dive sequence onto Picudo with a tope suicida. Manson follows with a
killer head first tope suicida. ? follows with a cross body dive off
the top. Nygma dives into the crowd with another tope suicida. Parka
ends it with a tope suicida over the top. Abismo Negro runs in and
attacks Demon, giving the match to the tecnicos. Good overall action.

Cibernetico/Kick Boxer/Abismo Negro vs Latin Lover/Heavy Metal/Alebrije
Fall one is mostly back and forth action. Alebrije attempts an apron
somersault dive onto Abismo, but misses and takes a back first landing.
Lover pins Cibernetico with a sunset flip for the fall. The rudos
control most of fall two with brawling team moves. Alebrije dives
through the ropes with a good head first tope suicida onto Abismo.
Lover dives over the top onto Cibernetico. Blue Demon Jr runs in and
unmasks Abismo. The match is awarded to the tecnicos, average action.

Vipers vs Sangre Chicana/Panther/Sanguinario/Hijo del Cobarde - cage
Psicosis II dives off near the top of the 20' cage, onto a table with
Panther laying on it, with a senton. Mosco II is the last Viper in, and
gets teamed up on by the four Furia Nortena. Vatos Locos run in, along
with Abismo and Ciber. All four Nortenas make it out, taking the win.
Cage matches are only really entertaining when a small guy leaps off
the top. This was decent for a huge brawl.

CMLL TV 10/17/98
Dr Wagner/Cien Caras/Apolo Dantes vs Super Porky/Jalisco/Tinieblas Jr
The tecnicos take fall one. Rudos take fall two. Tinieblas does a basic
over the top dive onto Dantes. Porky dives off the apron onto Wagner.
Cien cradles Rayo for the match, after a missed blind tope. Below
average action.

Halcon Negro/Satanico/Villano III vs Olimpico/Fiera/Tigre Blanco
Olimpico springboards onto Halcon with a reversed dive onto the walkway
leading to the ring. Tecnicos take fall one. Halcon dives off the apron
with a kick onto Olimpico. Rudos take fall two. Olimpico dives through
the ropes with a tope suicida onto Halcon. Halcon sits on the top
turnbuckle, with Olimpico in a firman's carry. Then leaps off landing
in a falcon arrow position, pinning him. The rudos pin Fiera for the
match. Good action.

Gran Markus/Boricua/Ricky Santana vs Emilio Charles/Head Hunters
Rudos take fall one. Charles crotch dives off the apron onto Santana.
Tecnicos take fall two. Charles dives through the ropes onto Markus
with a sloppy tope suicida. Santana dives over the top onto a Hunter
and Boricua. The other Hunter dives off the top turnbuckle onto the
three with a basic, but crazy looking cross body. Markus pins Charles
for the third fall. Good efforts, decent match.

Scorpio/Bestia Salvaje/Pierroth vs Santo/Negro Casas/Atlantis
The rudos take fall one with Santo submitting to a dragon sleeper.
Negro flies off the top and drop kicks Bestia off Santo's shoulders,
and takes a dangerous neck and head fall on the mat. They all brawl
around, until Negro fouls Bestia, giving the rudos the match. Average
brawling action.

AAA TV 10/19/98
Miss Janeth vs Alda Moreno
Alda takes fall one with a top rope frankenstein. Janeth takes fall two
after an arm drag off the top. Janeth takes the match by DQ. Not too
good without Alda's acrobatic dives. Some highlights from other matches
are shown. The best being an over the top rope somersault hand spring
on the apron into a head scissors dive by an unknown. Then a good
somersault dive off the top by another unknown.

Charly Manson/Nygma/Picudo vs Maniaco/Psicosis/Kick Boxer
Maniaco and Psicosis start the match with a double tope suicida onto
two of Los Vatos Locos. Manson gets cut open early on. Los Vipers are
DQed, giving the fall to Los Vatos. Nygma dives onto Maniaco with a
good tope suicida. Manson takes another big beating, getting Los Vipers
DQed for the match in straight falls. Good for a mostly brawling match.

Sangre Chicana vs Cibernetico
They brawl around the arena, onto a huge twisting staircase. Ciber
handcuffs Sangre to it, and takes the match by countout. Neither tried
for much of anything.

Abismo Negro/Crazy 33/Pentagon vs Blue Demon/Heavy Metal/Octagon
The tecnico team takes fall one. Rudos take fall two. Octagon gets
assisted over the top onto Abismo. Demon follows with a tope suicida.
The tecnicos take the match, average for a AAA main event.

CMLL TV 10/24/98
Cien Caras vs Rayo de Jalisco - CMLL heavyweight title
Each guy takes a fall. Rayo dives off the top with a basic cross body.
Rayo counters an inside cradle for the win. Average efforts from both.
They set up a hair vs mask match.

Ultimo Guerrero/Halcon Negro/Zumbido vs Mr Aguila/Olimpico/Tony Rivera
The tecnicos take fall one. Rivera dives off the apron onto Zumbido
with a flying head scissors. Halcon is thrown over the top by his
team mates into a good dive onto Olimpico. Rudos take fall two. Zumbido
dives off the inside middle turnbuckle onto Aguila. Halcon takes the
fall after pinning Olimpico after a throw off the top. Below average
offense compared to other Aguila/Ultimo Guerrero matches, still better
than most other CMLL action.

Apolo Dantes/Gran Markus/Ano 2000 vs Emilio Charles/Atlantis/Lizmark
Rudos take fall one. Atlantis dives onto Ano with a tope suicida.
Tecnicos take fall two. Lizmark dives onto Markus with a tope suicida.
Charles counters an Ano suplex with a cradle for the match. Good
efforts, decent match.

Scorpio/Fuerza Guerrera/Satanico vs Negro Casas/Felino/Fiera
Negro is back suplexed off the top by Scorpio, and Felino is fouled by
Fuerza for the fall. Tecnicos take fall two with some basic moves.
Fiera assists Felino over the top into a dive onto Fuerza. Negro pins
Scorpio with la magistral for the match. Average action.

AAA TV 10/26/98
Hijo del Espectro/Cadaver/? vs Nino de la Calle/Chivas Rayadas
A Chiva is assisted over the top with a dive onto Espectro. Calle dives
off the top with a killer somersault onto ?. Tecnicos take the first
fall. Calle is cut open, and the rudos are DQed. Good but short match.

Abismo Negro/Mini Abismo/Cuerno de Chivo vs Dollar/Peso/Oscar Sevilla
Looked better in writing than it turned out to be. Instead of doing a
normal match with hot moves, they are all in comedy mode. Dollar pins
all three rudos at once with a cross body off the second rope. Mini
Abismo fakes a foul, giving the rudos fall two. Dollar throws Peso over
the top onto Mini Abismo with a basic dive. Dollar dives off the apron
onto Abismo. Sevilla dives off the top onto Cuerno with a basic cross
body. Peso fakes a foul for the match.

Vipers vs Payasos - AAA nacional atomicos titles
Los Payasos take fall one. Los Vipers take fall two after a couple top
rope frankensteins and splashes. Los Vipers take fall three. Average
action for a match between the two teams.

Cibernetico/Espectro Jr/Pentagon vs Heavy Metal/Alebrije/Octagon
The tecnicos take fall one. Nino de la Calle runs in and sprays glass
cleaner into Espectro's eyes, followed by Alebrije pinning Espectro
with a German suplex for the match in straight falls. A big brawl
ensues. Average for a AAA main event.
