Subject: Usenet Year-End Achievement Awards 1991 - Results (Part 1 of 2)

Well, here we go.  I got around to tallying the entries a lot sooner than
I thought I would.  There were a few surprises, some run-away victories
(or losses, depending on the category), and some very closely contested
awards.  For each of the 46 awards, what follows is the winner, the
description of the award, last year's winner, some participation
statistics for the award, and a vote breakdown, listing the number
of 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place votes each potential winner received.
Interspersed throughout the "official" awards are the mock awards
that voters included with their entry forms.

I hope everybody enjoys reading this and that my efforts were
worthwhile.  Any format complaints, etc., should be directed to
me in e-mail.  Any other feeback can be posted or e-mailed to me.

                                                          Herb...

P.S. The complete posting that I had prepared is 80 Kbytes big, and
will get truncated if I post it, so I've split the posting into
two halves, and made two postings.

Now on with the show:
