I get a Wii Alert...and by the time I answer it it's gone.

I find one on craigslist that's not horrendously overpriced..and by
the time I answer it's gone.

I go to Wal Mart and they have no idea when more are coming.

I call Gamespot and they may have some in three weeks.

I could always pay $350 for it on ebay....NOT.

I have never seen a mass product so hard to find like this before.
Think of how much money Nintendo is losing in all of these would-be
customers. I WANT MY WII WII.

If you have enough free time, find out what time the store gets the truck
that delivers the Wiis (i.e. when does the DHL truck come in? Here it's
around 11:30.). Then show up every day Monday through Friday until you get
your Wii. The store should get a shipment every couple days now. It'll
take perserverance, but it's better than going online for one.

I talked to one of the geeks at Gamespot about that. He said, which makes
sense, that Nintendo had the choice of either committing to another factory
to try to meet Wii need, or to keep production at current levels. If they
opened another factory and demand dropped, they would be out the capital
outlay. Makes sense to me.

$350 is not bad, considering after taxes, in a store, you are paying $270
with taxes. also, minus ebay and paypal charges, the seller makes $50 or so
profit. if i cried about wanting one so bad, i think i would splurge.

Methinks someone "up there" is looking out for you, my friend.

Let's face facts, people. The wii is gay.

Don't believe me? You disagree? Well, then explain this:

I got mine by phoning EB Games every morning when they open. They know then
if they will be getting some in that day by courrier. Show up when the
courrier comes in and you'll get one.

I must be living right, then - in early November, I walked into a
GameStop near where I work and they had them in stock for $250.

(On the other hand, I never saw a Wii during all of 2007 in any of the
"big stores" such as Best Buy or Wal-Mart.)

I got my Wii about a month after it came out because I was hanging out a
Hooters and one of the waitresses boyfriends came in was gonna wait in
line for one at midnight. He had another friend with him who was just
gonna wait in line for the hell of it, so I gave that other friend $300
(let him keep the change) and, lo and behold, when 12:30 rolls around
they come back in to Hooters and I got me a Wii.

You are living right, Don. But I can tell you that Wal-Mart (or at least
mine) DID get Wiis in almost every day during the Christmas season. Usually
around 4-6 units. That was all Nintendo allotted our store. They came in
around 10:30-11:00 every day. We had people starting to line up around 8-9
just to get one. The ones that came in later kept bitching because we had
none. Even today, I go to the Electronics manager and ask him "Got any
Wiis?" to which he usually flips me off.

I ran to Wal-Mart today for a few things and checked. Not a one in
stock but they said they've got 10 coming this week. They had no clue
what day but if I go there again this week I might luck out. This is
an out of the way what I call "Country Wal-Mart". Not a Super Wal-Mart
but an older one way outside the normal radar.

You're way too trustful, which is a good thing but can be a bad thing

I'd say the risk was worth it (especially knowing the girlfriend). If I
lost $300, it would suck, but there was a very low chance of that
happening and it wouldn't be a really bad thing if it did happen. $300
isn't all that much money for me (don't get me wrong, it's a chunk of
change, but I'm not gonna miss any payments or anything if I lose an
unexpected $300).
