From today's Figure Four Daily, Bryan Alvarez interviews former WWE writer
Court Bauer. He talks about the long-rumored Bob Holly-monkey angle.
When nuECW was starting up on SyFy, the writers were coming up with ideas on
how to add a sci-fi element to the show. Their first idea was to have a UFO
crash in the ring, have a martian come out and have Sandman cane him to
death. This was going to be a fuck you to SyFy. Ultimately, they decided not
to bite the hand that feeds them.
At the same time, Vince had a hard-on for Bob Holly, and wanted ideas for
him every week. As a joke, Court threw out an idea to turn Bob into
Spacecore Holly. He'd been out with an injury, and Bob would've been "lost
in time" only to come back with a space monkey. The space flight would've
been a joint venture between the WWE and NASA. The monkey would be his
Frankie/Damian.
Court had someone make a picture of the idea. Stephanie, apparently, was
amused and disturbed.

As it was pointed out in the interview, Bob Holly can't even get along with
humans, much less apes. Meltzer mentioned a great story Holly last week.
When Bob was released from the WWE, a few indy promotions tried to get a
hold of him, but they couldn't, so they contacted WWE wrestlers for his
phone number. None of them had it.
