Galavision Lucha Libre TV Review #38
CMLL TV 10/31/98 & AAA TV 11/2/98
By ste...@kern.com

CMLL TV 10/31/98
Scorpio/Bestia Salvaje/Satanico vs Negro Casas/Felino/Emilio Charles
The rudo team takes fall one after a few minutes of brawling, with
Scorpio locking Felino into a hold. The tecnicos take fall two after
similar brawling action, with Charles getting Scorpio into an arm bar.
More of the same in fall three. Negro counters a Satanico back breaker
hold with la magistral for the win. No better than the Dinamitas usual
mostly brawling match.

Apolo Dantes/Blue Panther/Gran Markus vs Brazo de Plata/Head Hunters
The teams trade off for a few minutes. All three tecnicos pin the three
rudos with vertical splashes. Markus splashes Plata for fall two. One
of the Hunters misses a moonsault off the top, then pinned by the rudos
for the match. Below average action.

Halcon Negro vs Olimpico - CMLL welterweight title
They trade off holds reasonably well for about nine and a half minutes.
Olimpico ends the first fall with a good hold. Fall two is clipped,
only showing Halcon pinning Olimpico with a rings of Saturn double arm
bar, rolled forward into a cradle. Halcon starts fall three ramming
himself and Olimpico into row two with a killer nose dive tope suicida.
Taking out the first row of seats, and likely injuring both. Olimpico
dives off the middle inside turnbuckle with a lazy no danger effort.
They trade off a few hot near falls. Olimpico hand springs off a top
turnbuckle, while Halcon drives his forearm into Olimpico's groin with
an unseen foul. Then pins him for the belt. Best Halcon Negro effort
I've ever seen, good match. If Olimpico tries for a couple good dives,
and Halcon tries for another above average match, their upcoming mask
versus mask match should be really good.

Hermanos Dinamita vs Rayo de Jalisco/Atlantis/Tinieblas Jr
Rayo pins Cien with a cradle for fall one. Universo and Ano pin Rayo
after a couple splashes off the top for the rudo fall. Tinieblas dives
through the ropes onto Universo with a good tope suicida. Rayo dives
off the top with a basic cross body onto Cien. Mascara Ano 2000 tries
for a groin kick, but unmasks Atlantis instead, giving the match to the
tecnicos by DQ. Decent action. Below average episode. At least the
mediocre Puerto Ricans are gone for a while. Galavision probably cut a
good undercard match. If CMLL hadn't been using Mr Aguila, Ultimo
Guerrero, and Zumbido on TV over the last few months, their TV would
have been about 80% lazy old man style matches.

AAA TV 11/2/98
Xochitl Hamada/Janeth/Rosy Moreno vs Alda Moreno/Sugeith/Linda Star
The ruda team takes the first fall. Alda leaps off the top with a
senton onto Rosy, tecnicas take fall two. Alda dives through the ropes
with a far somersault onto Rosy. Star flies off the top with a basic
dive onto Janeth. Sugeith follows with a really well executed spring
board moonsault, twisted into a somersault dive about eight feet from
the ring onto Hamada. Sugeith fakes an unmasking, giving the tecnicas
the DQ win. More wrestling than brawling, and two great looking dives.
Good match.

Abismo Negro/Cibernetico/Electro Shock vs Octagon/Canek/Alebrije
Mostly low speed rudo brawling opens the match. The tecnico team takes
fall one after Alebrije is kicked in the crotch by Electro. Canek dives
through the ropes with a tope suicida onto Ciber. Alebrije does a slick
rolling blind tope in the ring onto Electro, then cuts him. Alebrije
dives through the ropes with a great tope suicida onto Electro, making
it to the far gaurd rail. Octagon does a worthless crotch dive off the
apron onto Abismo. Canek powerbombs Ciber for a near fall, but Los
Vipers run in to get the rudos DQed. Los Juniors Atomicos also run in.
Another good effort.

A charity show for handicapped children is highlighted. The best being
a great Octagoncito springboard moonsault dive onto Mini Abismo.

Cuerno de Chivo/Ramona/Mini Psicosis vs Nino de la Calle/Dollar/Peso
Peso dives through the ropes with a tope suicida onto Mini Psicosis to
start the match. The minis Peso and Psicosis do some pretty solid
comedy together. With near 5' Psicosis chasing 3' Peso around the ring,
then running into Dollar, who's got 150 lbs or more on him. The three
rudos are pinned by a top rope Dollar splash for the fall. Cuerno
springs off the top rope with an Arabian press moonsault, driving his
kness into Dollar's face. Mini Psicosis flies off the top with a rear
end to face senton on Dollar. Followed by a moonsault twisted into a
somersault splash off the top by Cuerno. Jose Ramona follows with a top
rope splash, pinning Dollar for the fall. Peso splashes Ramona with a
dive off the apron to the floor. Cuerno gets a near fall on Calle with
a powerbomb, followed by a moonsault from a mat standing position.
Calle dives off the top with a basic cross body onto Ramona. Peso pins
Mini Psicosis with a splash off the top, followed by Dollar pinning
Cuerno with a vertical splash for the win. Faster action with hotter
moves than last weeks mixed trios match. They have the comedy and fast
acrobatic in ring moves down on their second attempt at this match.
Have the capable fliers do the great acrobatic dives they're able to
do, add all three at once, and it would be a great match.

Espectro Jr/Hijo del Espectro/Cadaver/? vs Los Vipers
The teams brawl around for a few minutes. Mosco dives onto a rudo with
a tope suicida. Espectro Jr dives onto Maniaco with a good head first
tope suicida. Cadaver dives onto Histeria with a basic cross body over
the top. Los Vipers take the fall, after Leon "Psicosis AAA" Negro is
unmasked. I guess a fall or two was cut, because the match ends. Fair
action for a single fall with sloppy brawling and a few decent dives.

Los Vatos Locos vs Los Juniors Atomicos
Without Perro Sr, Sangre Chicana, Heavy Metal, Cibernetico, Latin
Lover, and the other usual AAA main eventers around to stink the match
up, the main event should be better than normal. Maybe not. Los Vatos
take the first fall with old man no move brawling. Fall two starts a
bit faster. Perro Jr dives off the apron with a crotch attack. Mascara
Sagrada Jr makes Manson submit to a Gory special. Parka Jr pins Picudo
with a springboard moonsault for the fall. Charly Manson and Parka Jr
trade off a few minutes of good comedy. Parka Jr dives onto Nygma with
a tope suicida, followed by May Flowers with the same dive, followed by
Manson doing a simple dive off the top. Demon ends it with a tope
suicida onto the four. Picudo fakes a foul for the match. Better than
a typical main event, but about average compared to this same match up
in the middle of the card.
