The system worked before it failed, you see.
Oh you mean the very system that Bush set up? That one?
What about that "change" garbage? Your man is responsible for it now,
bub.

Now Trij, don't you know that absolutely everything from the moment that
Clinton pulled up his pants and helicoptered out of DC until at least three
years into the Obama administration IS ALL BUSH'S FAULT!!!
Plus as an aside to rwa: The point isn't that the system worked (it didn't),
it's that the dumb bitch is claiming that it did when in fact those people
got damn lucky that there was a hero on board.
Is Obama capable of appointing ANYONE who isn't a completely inept moron?

He can't help it. He's an idiot himself.
Very hypocritical for you to bash the guy for not changing something
you had been in favor of.
And at this point in time he's been more successful than your boy GW
Bush who already had a few thousand civilians dead as a result of
terrorist actions at this point in his term.
Says the pussy who advocated destroying this country for electing
someone he didn't like.
Both of you are hacks. This isn't partisan. The beaucracy failed.
Systems failed. Not on Bush, not on Obama. Maybe we should blame
both/either for ever Olympic Medal America didn't/doesn't win too.
10 percent of America is unemployed (real percentage of potential work
force is somewhere around 18%), which amazes me because only like
10-15% of people are actually GOOD at their jobs- close to none of
whom lie in government.
We could go through mandatory full body cavity checks for all
passengers, but Americans make these tacit agreements on time-
convenience vs. Safety all of the time. (We could also save Thousands
of American lives yearly by lowering the speed limit to 20 mph but
Clinton, Bush and Obama refuse to do they so they MUST HATE
AMERICANS).
Get over yourselves. Both of you. Some dumb-ass strapped
firecrackers to his junk, and shit happened. We then do the same
things Americans have always done: Overreaction to the symptom of the
problem (Internment camps b/c of Pearl Harbor, taking your shoes off
in line at airports b/c of Richard Reid, having the nations least
effective entity take over 1/6th of the US economy b/c some dick
company dumped Aunt Mildred for a pre-existing condition). It's
happens it always will. I can only hope the the next over-reaction,
nay correction, will put someone less dangerous to capitalism than
Obama, Pelosi, and Reid in power.
Wrong. Obama is the guy in charge, he got elected by proclaiming
change, and he failed to improve the system and tweak it like Bush did
during his administration. If something fails, it's his now. It's his
responsibility to tweak it BEFORE folks get killed and thus far he's
messed it up -- badly. He's responsible and it's his folks who are in
charge. This wasn't Bush's problem -- we all know his predecessor did
absolutely nothing to provide any infrastructure whatsoever to prevent
this -- and Clinton had every opportunity to do it. Bush was the one
who put up the infrastructure and the result is there were no
successful attacks on American soil in the seven years after 911
during Bush's watch, though it is clear there were many attempts. Bush
knew that to keep ahead of the terrorists, you had to tweak the system
and improve upon it and that's what he did throughout his
administration -- many times being opposed by the Demwits. Now it's up
to Obama to make those improvements and he has shown himself
completely lax in doing so. He was just lucky that thing didn't go
off.
Obama is very, very weak in the area of foreign policy. When he got
elected, I wondered allowed how many Americans will have to die to
prove how big a mistake Obama was. Those numbers very nearly almost
began to get notched a few days ago.
++++++++++++
yes, anarchy is the answer.
So far, Trij, no Americans have died in terrorist attacks on U.S. soil
or on airplanes coming into or out of the U.S. because of terrorism
under Obama's watch. No system can be perfect, and again, about 10
million planes come into and go out of U.S. airports a year, so it's a
challenge.
But I can see the disappointment in your posts, and Gow's posts, that
Americans weren't killed -- your hope that this would further your
agenda has been dashed. If no Americans are killed in terrorist
attacks between now and 2012, will you admit you were wrong?
Tell that to Torrey, SyVyn, Gow and Janis.

You mean "less dangerous to someone's money that won't do shit with
other than gather dust" right?
Wow, by your own biblical text it took God (n.H.) six days to create
the heavens and earth. You want Obama to do one better than God?
Bush had seven years of an unblemished record. Your guy has failed to
tweak a system that needs tweaking every once in awhile, as Bush
realized, but then again we realize that the Demwits don't take
foreign policy too seriously except to kiss the butts of those who
want to destroy us. Your guy has been in office less than a year and,
despite an infrastructure put in place by Bush, Obama has failed to
keep it up to date and 270-plus Americans almost lost their lives
because of it. The only reason it didn't occur was that the device
malfunctioned. Is THAT the kind of protection Americans should expect
from Obama -- just hope that the bad guys' bombs don't go off?

If you are a lawyer at all, which I seriously doubt, then you
certainly aren't too good in regards to "reading between the lines,"
-- especially when there is nothing there to read. As far as being
"wrong" -- wrong about what? About Obama's failure to update a system
that needs constant updating? About the fact that the only reason
Americans weren't killed two days ago was not because the device was
found but because it failed to go off? Sounds like Janet Napolitano
admitted she was wrong the day after she claimed "the system worked."
Are you claiming the system "worked" because a plane didn't go down in
flames yesterday?
Yeah, except for 9/11 and ignoring the warnings for that. So far
Obama has an unblemished record, period.

You completely dodged the question. I'll repeat it, since I know
you're slow. If nobody dies in a terrorist attack between now and
2012, will you admit that you were wrong / that Obama and the TSA
actually did the right thing?

Yeah, I went there...
Umm, the guy took a few weeks to pick his cabinet. He might have told
Napolitano, "Oh, BTW, take another look at airline security. Let's
tweak it to make things harder." How long does it take to do that?
Well, I guess it takes, well, an infinite amount of time because Obama
failed to do it.
3,000+ on 9/11; Over 4,000 American Soldiers dead in Iraq and the
thousands, if not hundreds of thousands that were killed and not
recorded before and after "Mission Accomplished."
I could give you an exact number...if Bush didn't label it classified.
It was...

No need to try again, you've already struck out. My question to you
wasn't "was any mistake made?" My question was, "what if nobody in
the U.S. dies in a terrorist attack between now and 2012 -- will you
admit that you're bashing on Obama was wrong"?
Because you seem to think Bush getting by AFTER the 9/11 disaster was
proof of him doing something right, I'm wondering if you would extend
the same courtesy to Obama, or if you're just a partisan hack.
Come to think of it, the question really answers itself, doesn't it?

Wow, you fail at understanding what constitutes "an infinite amount of
time." Since when did 12 months become "an infinite amount of time?"
Wow, hypocrisy is hereby noted and archived for future laughs at your

Exactly. How Janis doesn't realize this isn't surprising because,
frankly, he's retarded.
Umm, it's infinite because he never did it. Certainly more than "six
days."
No source, no credibility. Then again, maybe you got it from ... a
comic book! If so, go ahead and cite your source! It's as good as
anything else you've come up with.
Umm, your question has already been answered, "counselor." If you
don't have anything else, kindly take your seat.
Umm, isn't this a homeland security issue, "counselor?"
TSA is the agency WITHIN the Department of Homeland Security that is
responsible for airline security, you idiot. And DeMint has put a
hold on Obama's nomination to head the TSA. None of that is
debatable. The only question is, why are Republicans putting party-
hackery over safety for U.S. citizens? -- Joe (n.j.) [mWo]
I really believe that people like Janis, Lord Gow and Torry are
praying for people to get killed in a terrorist act so they can feed
into their propaganda.
I just love it how these folks make up stuff and expect people to
believe it while ignoring the facts. There's Slater over there,
roleplaying as an attorney again, demanding answers to questions that
have already been answered when he isn't demeaning little people. Then
there's RWA over there, quoting statistics from his favorite
literature (comic books) at best or just making things up as he goes
along in a futile attempt at dramatic effect. It would be funny if it
wasn't so pathetic. Kind of reminds me of Eugene.
Which you do all the time hypocrite.
No star troll. NEXT!!
Maybe if Obama's TSA nominee wouldn't spend his time ordering
background checks on boyfriends of his ex-wife he wouldn't get his
nomination held up! I am sure you realized that, "counselor." You
probably omitted that from your last post because, well, it didn't
help your case, did it? And it sure doesn't help Obama's case because
I'm sure HE knew it before he nominated him as well!
Got a source or are you just throwing shit at a wall and hoping it
sticks?

Wow, for the first time in a long time you're right about something.
Right, this from someone that gets his news from TownHall? Really?

question; the opposing attorney said, "Objection, asked and answered";
I said, "Asked, but NOT answered"; and the judge agreed with me. Same
deal with you. -- Joe (n.j.) [mWo]
Nope, the reason DeMint put the hold on is that Obama has hinted that
he would restore the right of TSA employees to bargain collectively,
and that pisses off some Republicans, who put anti-union ideology
before national security. -- Joe (n.j.) [mWo]
BTW Janis: http://www.iraqbodycount.org/
Even this bogus website doesn't mention "hundreds of thousands."
Umm, being censured by the FBI played no role in his confirmation? You
don't see misuse of position as important, "counselor?" You might want
to get your facts straight. Are you denying this happened,
"counselor?" Be careful, because he admitted to it. If you are going
to blame somebody for there not being a TSA head in place, then blame
your president for once again sending up a flawed nominee and
insisting on trying to push him through. While Obama fiddled, the
plane nearly burned.
In this case, the "judge" you referred to in your "hypothetical" case
would agree with me.
Those are accounted for...even those who tried to calculate the
genocide of the Holocaust couldn't come up with an exact figure.
Washington Post
TSA nominee was censured over records check
Updated 4:01 p.m. ET
President Obama's nominee to lead the nation's airport security
officers received a censure from the FBI in 1988 after asking a San
Diego police officer to run a background check on his ex-wife's
boyfriend.
Obama tapped Erroll Southers in September to serve as administrator of
the Transportation Security Administration. Southers is currently
chief of homeland security and intelligence at the Los Angeles
International Airport's police department and associate director of
the University of Southern California’s Center for Risk and Economic
Analysis of Terrorism Events. He previously served as a homeland
security adviser to Gov. Arnold Schwarzenegger (R-Calif.).
Southers worked as an FBI special agent from 1984 to 1988, and
received his censure in 1988 after asking a co-worker's husband who
worked for the San Diego Police Department to run a background check
on the boyfriend of his ex-wife.
Umm, the Demwits were going to pass this flawed nomination through
despite the FBI's censure. If you are going to blame anyone for no
head at the TSA, blame Obama for sending up another flawed nominee.
Umm, "hundreds of thousands" is not a credible number by anyone's
standards -- not even your bogus website.
Didn't seem to bother Arnold now didn't it?
--
rwa2play (Lost mode on)
Now watch Janis make a comment about Arnold not being a 'real
American.'
Wow, no. Did you get dropped on your head during the Christmas
weekend?
Oh so 6 million Jews being murdered isn't a credible number? You sure
you wanna say that?
I'm going on what DeMint has said. He's an anti-union hack, and
that's his reasoning. Because of this, TSA has no head. It's on
DeMint.
And by the way, you are so cute in putting quotation marks areound
"counselor." Tell you what. I'll bet you $100 I'm a lawyer AND I'll
give you 100-1 odds. So you have a chance at winning $10,000 if
you're right. Put up or shut up. -- Joe (n.j.) [mWo]
Except that's not the reason DeMint has given for the hold. Here's a
quote from DeMint's spokesman. Note no discussion of your issue, but
a gratutious slam on unions:
"This is an important debate because many Americans don't want someone
running the TSA who stands ready to give union bosses the power to
veto or delay future security measures at our airports."
So in short, Janis, you're wrong again. -- Joe (n.j.) [mWo]
In short, a lot of finger pointing at US security, but let's have the
pros look at it and then figure whether it means we need a new system
or if it was a correctible screwup, and how the one overseas compares
to ours? Maybe ours is better and the people at the airport the plane
came from can learn from us.
I just thank God the bomb didn't explode, best that we don't have mass
casualties.

I don't have to now, Obama is doing it for me.
I'm being a realist. People on both sides of "the aisle" are pointing
fingers at the TSA, it wasn't a flight from a US airport.
Good post, DEP. The guy flew from Nigeria to Amsterdam to Detroit.
In theory, the U.S. requires that any planes flying to the U.S. from a
foreign country comply with U.S. safety rules, so at least the
Amsterdam-Detroit part of the flight had to. Of course, it's not TSA
folks who enforce the rules in Amsterdam.
I agree, of course, that we should try to figure out how this happened
and see what we can do to prevent it. Although it's a daunting task.
Again, about 10 MILLION flights either start off or end up (or both)

First off, we have to realize that these terrorists are like The Borg - they
can adapt and change procedures as necessary to achieve their end game.
Tell people to sit in their seats the last hour of the flight? Blow the
fucker up at the 61 minute mark. These people are able adapt because of
several reasons, one being that they are underestimated in their intellect
and abilities. Another is a larger reason that could be changed but won't.
The American Government is so afraid of offending anybody else in the world
that they squander resources. Taking time to thoroughly check out an 80
year old woman in a wheelchair while letting people who fit the profile of a
radical psychopath is left unwatched and allowed to board the plane without
a second glance.
