The show started with a voice-over tat I didn't really pay attention
to, other than it was still promoting Booker T.
Sting came out and gave a long, rambling promo, trying on multiple
occasions to get cheap pops by mentioning Canada, Bret Hart, Ric
Flair, etc. The fans chanted "T-N-eh! T-N-eh!"
1. Super Eric, Shark Boy, Curryman over Christy Hemme, Lance Rock,
Jimmy Rave in 9:00
I thought it would have been great (but unlikely) if they had
Christy Hemme pin Super Eric cleanly. There were some really funny
spots with Curryman being put in a headlock by Hemme, enjoying it,
and putting himself back in the headlock when Hemme let him go.
Shark Boy did his best Steve Austin impression by beating up on
Hemme (I'm sure they switched to shots of the crowd for the Canada
viewing of the PPV to avoid showing male-on-female violence). Both
tagged out. Later in the match when both were in again, Curryman
spun Hemme around a lot dance-move-like, ending in a deep dip with a
kiss (which of course she enjoyed). Match ended with Curryman
(accidentally?) pinning Christy. After the match, he didn't want to
get off of her.

2. Awesome Kong over ODB in 10:00
On the way to the ring, ODB (with new blonde hair and weird
mechanics overalls) chugged a fan's full beer from a plastic cup.
They brawled all over the arena, using plastic garbage cans and
other weapons. Kong went through a chair that was wedged between
the top two ropes Raven-style. Kong avoided going through a table
ODB had leaned against a corner, so ODB eventually set the table up
in the normal horizontal placement. Kong was up on the second rope,
allowing ODB to slip under her and drop her through the table.
Apparently Kong (with ODB) doesn't weigh enough, because the table
didn't really break all the way and she just slid over it and landed
on her neck on the mat. Kong's manager distracted ODB on the
outside for a while to give Kong a chance to recover. Kong set up
her own table in a corner of the ring while ODB took a swig from her
flask. The announcers had to act surprised when ODB sprayed it in
Kong's face. Kong still had enough in her to slam ODB through the
table leaning in the corner and got the pin.

Christian was interviewed backstage. Looked like a good, serious
interview, but I wasn't paying much attention.
RATING: $0.00
3. Abyss and Matt Morgan over Team 3D in 11:00
Nothing special. Doesn't belong on PPV. I would have rather seen
the Motor City Machine Guns vs another X-Division team on this card.
MATCH RATING: $0.00
4. Abdul Bashir over Petey Williams and Creed to win the X-Div title
in 9:00
I'm surprised they let Petey back into the country without having
his bags nabbed by customs officials. Petey was over huge with the
Canadian crowd. Creed had some amazing moves making the match seem
really special. Highlight of the match was when Creed was down and
Petey put Bashir in the sharpshooter. Bashir was screaming in pain
for a good 30-50 seconds, occasionally trying to reach the ropes to
break the hold, when all of the sudden (while still in the
submission move) he managed to cover Creed who was still out on the
mat by the ropes. Creed kicked out and eventually Bashir got out of
the sharpshooter. The crowd popped each time Petey set up for the
Canadian Destroyer (including setting up both Bashir and Creed for a
double CD at one point) and were disappoint ed each time it was
broken up. Match ended when PW hit a CD out of nowhere (which
confused the crowd, since they weren't given a chance to cheer for
it). Bashir threw Petey to the outside and covered Creed for the
win. Hometown boy makes good (even if he's moved to Texas now).
MATCH RATING: $2.80
5. Taylor Wilde (w/Rhino) over Angelina Love (w/Kip & Sky) in 6:00
to retain the title
Not much of a match.
MATCH RATING: $0.25
6. Sonjay Dutt over Black Machismo Jay Lethal in 15:00 to win So Cal
Val in a wedding ring ladder match
That sounds weird just reading what I typed, but this was easily the
MotN. Probably the best match I've seen in a month from either
company. Some amazing ladder spots. Just when you think they can't
come up with ladder spots that we've seen over and over in ladder
matches... The only real missed spot was when one ladder was
balanced horizontally on top of a vertical ladder, Lethal tried to
catapult Dutt's head into the upper ladder, but both guys were too
short for the spot to work. West stopped drooling over So Cow Val
to try to explain that Dutt was putting his hands up to block the
ladder shot. Fans chanted "This is awesome" after a few more
innovative ladder spots. End came when each man set up a ladder in
the middle of the ring. Dutt knocked Lethal and put him in a camel
clutch ten feet in the air. He tried to reach the wedding ring, but
Lethal snap-mared him off to the ground! For some reason, Lethal
decided to climb down instead of grabbing the wedding ring. He got
his foot caught, so Val helped him extract it. Dutt was furious.
Both men climbed opposite sides of the ladder to get to the ring
when Val gave Lethal a low blow (followed by a mock "oops, did I do
that?" look. Seriously, find a copy of this match on youtube or
wherever. And then read Wade Keller's description of the match,
especially his comments on Val's expression and Don West's
near-orgasms.

Angle was interviewed backstage. He said the gold medal that AJ
stole means more to him than his kids. Sweet.

7. Roode and Storm over LAX in 8:00
I think I read that Shelley wasn't able to get a flight out of Texas
(along with Booker T and one other person) which kinda sucked, since
her outfits are usually a highlight of any show she's on. They
worked it into the storyline by saying that Jackie attacked her in
the back and she's in a Canadian hospital. Boring match ended with
Jackie throwing powder into Homicide's eyes so Roode could get the
pin. Just before sending this, I read that Shelly has quit TNA.
MATCH RATING: $0.10
Frank Trigg (no, I've never heard of him before either) cut a promo
against Canada in the ring (along with a US flag). I hope he wasn't
hired for his promo skills.
RATING: $0.05
8. Frank Trigg vs AJ Styles ended in a no contest after an
unintentional low blow
It takes real talent to have a bad match with AJ Styles, but Trigg
managed to pull it off. The crowd realized this early and started a
loud "We Want Wrestling" chant. The announcers tried to talk louder
and faster to drown it out, but were unsuccessful. I got a good
laugh when I saw the ref had donned latex gloves for this match.
A loud "Fire Russo" chant followed, although I fear Russo had
nothing to do with this. It's isn't over-booked or gimmicky enough
for his fingerprints. The crowd changed to a "this is bullshit!"
chant before deciding on a long sustained "booooooooooooooo" (I
don't think anyone was saying Boo-urns, either). Between the
rounds, the announcers were talking about Trigg's elbow, and his
corner man was looking at it. Apparently both Keller and Powell
missed this, since their cable companies decided to switch the feed
to asian HLA for a few minutes. Sounds like it was more
entertaining than this match was.

Samoa Joe was interviewed backstage. I tuned out.
RATING: $0.00
9. Samoa Joe over Kurt Angle and Christian in 16:00
Some good in-ring action, and a cool corkscrew dive over the top
onto Angle and Christian on the outside by Joe. Angle got in his
triple suplex bit on Christian. Good match other than the expected
walk-in by JJJ and his guitar to screw up the finish.
MATCH RATING: $1.80
Whoever is in charge of the sound on PPVs should teach whoever is in
charge of doing sound for Impact a few lessons. They didn't
over-boost (or pipe in) extra crowd noise, to make it sounds like
the announcers *have* to be shouting to be heard over them. On
Impact, it's unrealistic that they try to make it sound like the
crowd is going crazy from bell to bell. For the PPV, the crowd was
normal for the low spots, which made their pops for the high spots
make them seem that much more special.

TNA price of the PPV: $??.??
I spent $0.00 in gas and $0.00 on food, so by that token I got my
money's worth.
Not including WrestleManias and One Night Stands, this was the best
PPV from either company since Final Resolution on January 16th,
2005.
