I remember the Honda buff's said that Honda was investing in millions to
distribute their PWC's in 2003 all over the US instead of just 4 states. Has
this happened or the Honda lover's were just blowing smoke from some hole?

They cant distribute something if they cant find dealers to sell their
product. And in the four states which are selling them, they are fixing
to lose a couple of those dealers who are unwilling to divest themselves
of their other franchises.

From the conversations I've had with our local dealer, Honda itself
wasn't spending millions, it wanted it's dealers to spend millions.
Honda has some pretty draconian rules if you want to sell their
watercraft, and most powersports dealers aren't going to build a new
building and stock thousands of dollars worth of parts to sell a grand
total of TWO watercraft models. If Honda sticks to their guns on this,
there won't be many Honda watercraft on the water. Even Honda marine
dealers would have to drop other lines to sell watercraft. In short,
Honda says if you want to sell our watercraft, you will go bankrupt
doing it. Not wise.

I'm baffled...because last year I complained about Honda only releasing
their PWC product line in 4 states and then I got bashed by the Honda
lover's saying they have built a new manufacturing plant in the Carolina's
some where to make these units. Now, they're no where to be found coming
towards spring already of 2003. It seems that what ever anyone says is
mostly opinion and far from the facts until some thing really happens. O
well. Good luck Honda PWC owners.

I love it!!! If they were such a money-maker, you would see everyone fighting
over them. I can see them now..."Ahhhh-sooooo, maybe not such good thing?"
Can't you just see all the other companies laughing, saying, "LOL, and they
want their own single dealerships!?" LOL!!!

I'm all for competition and different models...but when the bullshit was
getting deep during Honda's release of their PWC I didn't hear the end of it
how they will dominate and take over the PWC market.

I'm happy to many manufactures on the water. Brings progress and lower
prices hopefully!

I'm all for competition as well, and Honda certainly has something to
bring to the table as far as their name goes, but what's with this
crazy distribution plan? There are only four dealers in the US? It
just doesn't make sense. I've heard speculation that production is not
going as well as planned and Honda is keeping the amount of dealers
small for that reason, but like I said it's speculation. Does anyone
here have a clue as to why Honda would purpsely make it so hard for
consumers to get their hands on Honda products?

It's their way or the no way. Maybe their policy will change but it
might be too late?

I don't believe its a production problem, its dealers not willing to
bend to Honda's way by having a dedicated dealership. Two dealers in
Va. turned them down flat. Honda claims they are doing it to insure
customer service, I think we call it restraint of trade. They will find
out that they need to be a lot more liberal to get back their
multi-million dollar investment in the manufacturing plant in SC.
