'95 SeaDoo GTX repair help

The "protecton hose", which is labelled as #20 on the Internal Propulsion
diagram for this doo came apart. The clamps were spinning frantically and
the rubber was sliced off.

Obtaining a replacement piece of hose is no big deal, nor replacing one of
the mangled clamps -- but I need to know the procedure of getting the drive
shaft through it.

Is this something better left to a shop with special tools?
What if the bolts have 13 years of saltwater corrosion, should I still
attempt it myself?

What is the impact of NOT replacing the protection hose?
