Ugh! I know it is good for hockey to expand into new areas.
But I sure wish places like Minneapolis, Milwaukee, Quebec City,
Ottawa, and other northern cities where the sport is played on
lakes and ponds-the pick up sport of choice with kids, would have
teams.

Hey! I know the Senators have been the laughingstock of the league
since their inception, but you can now say with a straight face that
Ottawa actually does have an NHL hockey team ;-)

Thanks for jumping in Dave. As for Hampton Roads, I might have to transfer
down there soon so I'm hoping they do get a franchise so I can see my
Senators
without having to drive to DC. I might even go root for the home team.
I've
had a lot of experience rooting for underdogs. (Bruins in the 60's,
Capitols
in the 70's/80's, Senators in the 90's). ;-)
tosh.

George Shinn was originally targeting Raleigh. He just kept the name
when Raleigh was submitted by Felix Sabatas. Apparently the name is
not final..I have heard a couple of other possibilities like the
Virginia Blasters.

Oh, I don't know... There's also a RHI Oklahoma Coyotes (who swept
the Rhinos last year). Sad thing is, the Phoenix logo looks better
than the Oklahoma logo (which is a little too cartoon-ish).
