Thomas,
Ricci was everywhere last night, but the Sharks helped him an aweful lot.
The defense was terrible. I've been told that Sandish Ozolinsh got Sharks'
coach Kevin Constantine mad (late for practice or something), and I noticed
that I did not see him play. Ozo's absence really hurt the power-play, and
the play of rookies Mike Rathje and Michael Sykora (sp?) was less than
stellar. I personally felt that after Tuesday night's game against the
Flyers, that Irbe could use a break; he did not look sharp. Thursday, while
the defense certainly didn't help him, he looked slow, and was replaced
by Jimmy Waite, who played well.
I'm hoping that the Sharks were just looking ahead to Saturday's upcoming
game against the Kings. It is games like last night that make me realize
how much the Sharks have improved since last year.
BTW, if not for some great saves by Waite, Ricci could have scored 6 or 7!!!
The man was buzzing the net the whole game!
