I really regret that NO instructor has told me how really vitally important
keeping my right upper arm against my rib cage (and thus turning my torso to
propel the arms) really is. I think that is the entire secret to the

who hit it 350+.

I am just now learning that what EVERY professional who writes about
the golf swing is correct about the importance of the grip. They
always put the information about the grip in the first chapter and
apparently most of us just start their book at Chapter 2.
BUT, the grip IS everything. Get the grip right and you don't need to
read the other chapters. A good grip DICTATES a correct swing. A
good grip forces you to swing on plane and much more. You can put
your mind in automatic and just swing after you learn to setup

I have only been posting in the Usenet for 6 months or so.
Larry is trying to figure out the golf swing....so what. What serious
golfer isn't? He doesn't insult anybody....he posts his latest thoughts and
responds to ridicule the best he can, by plonking.
You make frequent references to your killfile as though it's your shield of
honor, so who are you to ridicule his approach?
What's more pertinent is the use of your time. Such riveting research!
Wouldn't your time be better spent putting left handed?

I'll remind you that Larry has telephoned New Orleans in an attempt to dig up
dirt on D LaVille, and has sent threatening private e-mails to RSGers. I have
proof of the latter.
Further, if all Larry is trying to do is 'figure out the golf swing', then why
does he have a different new 'secret' every day that contradicts the previous
day?
He does *not* respond to questions about his theories that he posts.
He's been asked how he makes his 'full shoulder turn behind the ball off his
back foot' without swaying outside the right leg....have you heard the answer?
If so, please forward it to me.

Did you miss his post yesterday where he insulted me and my swing?
How about him claiming to call the course where I play to check up on
me to see if I really was an authorized TGM instructor? (All he had
to do was go to TGM web site).

Can you say the same for Larry calling my home course?
David Laville, G.S.E.M.
The Golfing Machine Authorized Instructor

I don't defend Larry's actions. But calling him out in a thread, naming him
Leisure Suit Larry, is no less insiduous.

Because he's in an evolving state of confusion, same as me or other hacks
trying to figure out this game.

Again....he doesn't know what he's talking about. But does that disqualify
him from posting his theories.

He does insult people, at the same time as he complains about his
infamous 'ad hominem' attacks. The posts of his "thoughts" take the
form of gospel or absolute truths, and he's really not interested in a
serious discussion. He may respond to ridicule, but he *never*
responds to posts which point out mistakes, incorrect quotes, or
inconsistencies between his own posts. He loves to post his
"authoritative sources", but ignores/discounts other equally valid
sources (including the same ones he's quoted in the past) when they
contradict his point.
OK ... I feel better now 8^). Hopefully I can refrain from wasting any
more time on Larry.

No, you don't have a new idea every three days.
You seek out good instruction, read recommended literature, and ask questions of
knowledgeable people.
You keep and work on the ideas that are consistent, and you throw out the
obvious garbage that makes no sense.
If you read a new idea in today's Crakerjax box, would you rush to the range
today to try it and then post here of the virtue of the idea when it is clearly
outside the processes of mainstream instruction?
Please don't say yes.
OK her's my tips for you for today........
Do these in this order only.........
1- there is no weight shift in the golf swing.
2- there is no transition in the golf swing
3- always make a full shoulder turn ahead of the ball
4- go play a 118 slope course, shoot in the 100's, tell RSG that it was a 146
slope, and never post the score
5-don't ever think about or practice where your arms, hands, or club shoud be,
just buy a friggen weed-wacker
6- tell RSG that you shot one over from the Championship tees, but don't post
the score
7-respond to people that are in your kill file, then find an excuse
8- But remember--don't challenge David Laville to a golf match. Nope, don't do
that! He just might show up.

Thanks, nice review and nice chronicle of my evolution as a student
golfer. I do work to do every one of those things. Notice there is
nothing contradictory! I started as a 24+ handicap almost 3 years
ago-- a converted 4.5+ tennis player-- and recently shot one over! My
handicap is dropping like a rock. Apparently all that stuff works-I
suggest you read it carefully.
And BTW, if you would spend that much time hitting balls and playing
golf this Summer, you too could be a decent golfer. Not good to sit
at a computer all day.

I did call D. LaVille's "home course" near New Orleans to talk to the
pros there about him after some particularly nasty personal insults
were posted by him. NOBODY there had ever even heard of the famous
golf instructor. I reported that to the entire forum. I am not
ashamed of that. No secret, no big revelation--just public exposure
of a phony. I learned that the best way to deal with these sickos is
to put them in your kill file- assuming you are using Free Agent.

No need to over analyze it. Just make a practice swing or a few
swings until you feel a nice relaxed "swish" and see a good clubhead
path toward the target or even in-to-out. Notice where the club first
contacts the grass. Put the ball there to enjoy crisp contact and
straight ball flight. That spot is at or behind center for me and for
anyone who doesn't do a transition lateral move forward. Duhhhh. It
ain't rocket science--but it might be too tough for you.

No....I missed that debate, until now. Good too see you back.

I don't defend him in that regard. Again, creating a thread in his honor is

That's because he runs a business for a living, his golfing machine
certification is not something he makes money on, it is, I believe,
something he did for his personal satisfaction.

What is your handicap now, Larry?

Larry is not posting theories, he's posting contradictions and wrong
information intentionally while sitting back and laughing watching
people take the bait. I predict it will be a matter of time before he
starts advocating fitted clubs and providing wrong information about
them.

One question I bet Larry will never be able to answer is if I'm such a
phony why am I listed on TGM web site?
LLLarry's a spammer and a troll. His entertainment value (IMO) is
slightly less than zero and "nutter" is a compliment.
But what's worse is that most of the swing theory he posts is a
hodgepodge of contradictory snippets from a dozen different sources and
is almost always taken out of context. That makes him a menace to any of
the newbies who actually hope to learn something.

Now we know where Larry gets his ideas from.
No shit. He makes teeth for a living and does not teach golf at his home
course. Why don't you call the the local Navy recruiter and ask if they've
heard of you?

When that "phony" kicks your ass on the course, it will make amusing
reading.
BTW, you insinuated in an email to me that you could "expose" me by posting
to RSG copies of posts I had made to other newsgroups. That was an idiotic
threat, but you then you are an idiot so it fits with your MO. Go ahead and
dig throught the archives of usenet and you'll see the posts I don't want
the world to see! The questions about woodworking, about programming with
Visual Basic. Gosh, if the world knew that I was not a good VB programmer,
I'd never be allowed to join a private club like yours! What a
heartbreaking thought!

You sent me a copy of your kill file and it is NOT a kill file. It marks
posts as read.

Well it sure is NOT off your back foot! (as you previously claimed it was).
Also, I'd like to see you get your front shoulder behind your back foot
