Jim Brown won't back down on Tiger
"I was asked a question," he said when I spoke with him Wednesday. "I
gave an answer."
The question, posed by HBO's Bryant Gumbel, essentially asked why there
aren't more prominent black athletes willing to do what Brown, Arthur
Ashe, Jackie Robinson and Bill Russell did during and after the height of
their influence: make stands, make change, make noise as social
activists.
The answer was as blunt as the working end of Brown's walking cane.
He called out Tiger Woods.
He called out Michael Jordan.
"There are one or two individuals in this country that are black that
have been put in front of us as an example," he told Gumbel. "But they're
basically under a system that says, hey, they're not going to deal with
certain things.
"Yes, that disappoints me because I know they both know better. Yeah, I
know they both know better, OK? And I know they both can do better
without hurting themselves."
But it was Woods who took the full force of another Brown verbal forearm
shiver. First, Brown marveled at Woods' hyperintensity as an athlete. And
then
"He'll run you over, he'll kick your [butt], but as an individual for
social change or any of that kind of [stuff] -- terrible terrible,"
Brown told Gumbel.
"We are the least-respected culture of any in this country," Brown said
of African-Americans. "One of the reasons is that we allow ourselves to
feed on each other. Black kids kill black kids. We allow neighborhoods to
run down. Black fathers are not at home. Education suffers. There's a
dilemma, and if we don't do something about the violence, if we don't get
some self-esteem, then we're going to have a war zone in every community
in this country.

I think brownie should STFU. Tiger is just a dumb jock and nobody cares
about his views on political issues.

You must have been watching the Dirty Dozen w/ me yesterday & my girl
said, " I don't like him".
Brown is known for running his mouth but I don't know enough of what
he has said to know if it's good or bad. It does not sound like he is
blaming white people for black's problems. Sounds like what Bill Cosby
has been saying. My take is Tiger does not want to associate himself
w/ the poor & troubled portion of his race. I call people as I see
them. White trash is white trash, if you conduct yourself like an Al
Sharpton or Jessie Jackson & say hey I'm black & start trouble then
I'll call them the N word. If you draw attention on yourself in a
negative manner by saying your different (black or gay) then people
are going to treat you as such.
Agreed, who gives a shit about what jocks, movie stars or musicians
have to say about any social issue? Answer: Liberals.

Why didnt Brown take White girl marrying Gumbel to task as well?
and anyone else with half a brain. It isn't their position on an issue
that makes the difference, it is that it sometimes gets the discussion
going about the issue.
Who better to start the talking than someone that has an audience.
Jim Brown is a militant, when times have changed, but he hasn't.
Tiger, as he said, is doing it the right way. It starts with
education, and it starts with children.
Tiger is running a color blind life. Old school, 1960's radicals like
Mr. Brown can't accept that the world has changed. Thanks largely to
the efforts of people like him. But once again. People like him fought
so hard for so long that it's impossible for him to see that he's won.
But of course guys like him & Jessie Jackson and Al Sharpton make a
living in the race whoring industry. So they must keep it up in order
to generate the speaking fees and keep the extortion racket going.

Very few golfers speak out on political issues and i think it's because
golfers are so easy to kill. They can be hitting shots from the rough
while hundreds of fans are within 30 yeards of them.

Like hell. You rub TW with a piece of charcoal and it leaves a white mark.
'Scuse me, but we use a different system of measure here on earth than
you inhabitants of Bizarroland. Would you mind explaining to me what a
"yeard" is?
Black militants don't marry white women.
It's against their religion.
You young guys are so naive. So much of this is so over your head.
All you can do is show up on usenet and throw temper tantrums. Do you
want a pacifier? Maybe you need some Ritalin? How about "time out" in
a corner all by yourself?
HAHAHA. Now that just shows how stupid you are. I made a typo and typed
"yeard" instead of "yard" and you were too dumb to figure that out!! HAHAHA
Right. Republicans don't care about looks, they care about deep
thinkers, like Arnold and Caribou Barbie. And St. Ronnie.
Are all of those Christian, Southern black people who voted for Obama
also Jesus fuckers?
Self centered Jim Brown is upset because TW doesn't get involved in
Jim Brown's chosen social issues.
