Golfers, Can you estimate how many ball marks you repair during an 18 hole round ? I bet I fix three or more on every hole. What's the deal here ? It only takes a second to repair a ball mark. They seem to be worse in the fall. Maybe because the greens are soft and wet from morning dew. Looking for my ball mark is the first thing I do when I reach the green. I fix it and then look for another. They're not hard to find. OM

I just repair a minimum of two a hole. Seems lots of other people are just too damn lazy.

I know I fix a lot more than I make! And yes, it's nothing but laziness. The same goes for raking bunkers.

At least one or two per hole besides my own. They are indeed everywhere, even on nicer courses.

I always fix my own (I can't understand how people don't want that little brag that comes from "Yeah. I hit that green"...) and I usually fix at least a couple more. Also, if I miss a green, I play a little game with myself that requires me to fix more than if I hit it.
So on average, probably something like 50+ per round.

When I'm playing with others, I repair more than when I'm playing alone, as I have more time to look around and find them while I'm waiting for others to putt.

It's not necessarily THAT people need to repair balls marks. People need to learn how to CORRECTLY repair ball marks. Merely sticking a tool into the ground under a ball mark and lifting it up, then tamping it down with your putter does nothing for the health of the green.
