Perksified. It didn't look like he hit a poor shot on #17, the wind
just knocked it out of the sky. Or, if S&DDAM is suggesting he choked
by not getting par on #18, I disagree with that too. He certainly had
a great opportunity to win it there, but #18 was playing like a Par 5
yesterday.
The 2nd place check for $1,026,000.00 that Goydos is taking home
should make him feel a little better.

Long term I think he will be more comfortable in the Players runner
up role than Players champion. I don't think he has to worry about the
money anyhow - a mil eases the pain as you say.

of getting home on his second shot? He could've dumped in the water,
or sliced it to an unplayable lie. He made the right choice.

I love the final 2 holes at TPC. A sphincter-tightening island green,
followed by a par 4 that either gives a player a good chance for a
birdie, or makes it damned hard to get a par, depending on the
conditions. That's how finishing holes should be.

and thus I took notice last year when he won in Hawaii. Seems like a
really cool, laid back Cali guy. I think it was Johnny Miller that
called him the California version of Boo Weekley - I guess I can buy
that. Except Goydos doesn't pretend to be stupid, he just tells it
like it is, which, as we all know, is an extremely rare commodity on
the PGA TOUR.

One name that comes to mind is Calvin Borel, the jockey who won the '07
Kentucky Derby. He's probably one of the top 25 riders, though, so he's not
a journeyman in the sense that Goydos is.
