I've played Bardmoor & the Belleair Country Club courses.

Anybody got some suggestions for other places?

How about driving ranges?

Have great holiday.

The driving range on East Bay, just east of Missouri, is a great value.
It is not very far from Belleair CC.

Thanks -- I'm leaving in the AM - but heading to Key West 1st -- I'll be in
the area from the 10th to @ the 17th --- I want to play a different course
or two -- but I like to beat balls also -- since it's been snow covered &
frigid here for too longh already --- haven't played in a month & it's
killing me.

We'll be at North Redington Beach -- do you have suggestions for a course
that does not hate singles? I'm a 10 on my home course which means I'll be
a few higher somewhere else..... certainly since I play on bent grass ---

I'll have internet ---

Too bad I will be missing you by a few weeks. I am moving to Largo in
February. I am in Ft Lauderdale right now. East Bay Golf Club is a good
value right now at $32 after 11:00a. I played there last Wednesday and
the course, although not a very difficult track and plays 6450 from the
"tips," was in very good shape. The only other course I have played up
there is actually a good drive from where you will be--Cypress Creek. It
is a very nice track.

I hope you have a great time while you are here. It is supposed to warm
back up to 73F next Tuesday.

I was stationed there in the mid to late 70's while in the Navy and did
try it. Not a very good course, but it was the only game in town!

East Bay, you say? My parents live just off Ulmerton in Pinellas
county, and I will surely be golfing there. I had my old set of clubs
shipped there. Set a course for adventure.

Go on, go on. I'll be arriving there on Feb 1st. I could use someone
with local experience. I know a great restaurant on Ulmerton called,
"The Wing House." I'll buy the beer.

I've penciled in, "golf at noon-ish" on my schedule book for Feb 8.
I'll be easy to spot, I'll be wearing a green plaid shirt. Plaid is
my favorite color, paisley is next.

When you come back later in the year, we will play something nicer than
East Bay. I have played there a couple of times because it is convenient
and the price is right for winter golf. I have only played two courses in
the area---well, Cypress Creek is about a 45 minute drive--but I plan on
learning my way around Tampa-St Pete ;-)

When I played there between X-mas and New Year's, one of the guys in the
group I was playing with had a coupon for Innisbruck for only $70. That
is a steal in the wintertime, I believe.

We will get out there and play, though.

I played the Tides today -- I started out yesterday but it was chilly at
8:00 AM.

shot an 80 -- played with a 3 other guys & we had a great time. It helped
that the guy I was paired with knew the course.

It is not overly long but the greens are treacherous.

My highlight was hitting a high 5 wood over some blocking trees into a good
breeze to 6 feet & making the putt. My guide said it could not be done
because I'd never be able to stop the ball. I told him I had that shot & you
had to think positive thoughts. ;-)

It's only a 10 minute trip to it from where we stay -- I'll go back in heart
beat.

I will have to look in to it. I played yesterday, as well. Colony West
Country Club in Tamarac, Fl. The course used to be rated in the top 100
public courses in the US. It is a difficult track and you can make it as
long as you like. There are 5 teeing areas and the length of the course
ranges from 4451 (women) to 7312 from the tips.

From the tips, the course is unplayable, unless your average carry is
around 270. I won't say how the round went, but I duped the canadian
couple we played with in to believing I was a good golfer ;-)

Have a great day!

Yeah I know some Canadians --- and they are easy to fool!

Well, I will be new to the area, so, I would look forward to finding
some steady playing partners (golf ;-)). As far as Colony West, the
carries are not forced in the sense of having to hit over water, but the
course plays longer than the card--if you can imagine that.

From the tips, the course rating is 75.7 with a slope of 146. It is a
bear from the back. I usually play from the green tee--the card says
somewhere around 6875, but it plays more like 6700. The slope and course
rating from the green tees are 142/73.7. Used to be a great track;the
competition from all the newer courses in the area has hurt it. While it
is much more than playable, it is not in the same shape it was 25 years
ago.

The tee areas need the most work. The fairways are in very good shape;
however, the greens are not the best around--but far from the worst.

Good luck selling your home ;-)

David
