Two Weeks in Scotland: Wow. This trip had been in the works for two
or three years and it was simply amazing. The courses were amazing
and the company was even better. Got to play The Old Course
(disappointing) and played with my dad in a storm on The Jubilee.
Another great memory from Scotland was Thor and I shunning Scott
Newell after he got the shanks on The New Course. We refused to look
at him or talk to him for fear of the situation being contagious.
(Truly, my top memory from Scotland was a dinner we all had together
but that's not golf related.........)
RSG Cincinnati: Another successful event. My best memory was putting
like a demon and winning the Meat vs. Bones match (again).
RSG NW: Almost getting into a fight with Alan Baker's brother because
I was putting lights-out (again). He said he was going to kick my ass
if I made a particular putt. I wasn't afraid since I knew I could
take him but I lipped the putt out on the low side. Also, Doug Rich
absolutely chunking a tee shot on a par three and beaning a doe about
30' away.
RSG Ohio: Best memory? Winning -- duh!!! I had wanted to win the
Coffeemaker for years and years. It was sweet vindication to finally
break through. Also, chalking up another victory in the Meat vs.
Bones match.
Other misc: Playing multiple rounds with my father and brothers.
Finally being able to play Camargo CC here in town. Almost acing the
10th at Dornoch.

Hey Annika, you'll never hold these:

>So what were your top golf memories from 2009?
Most come from the holidays, as usual.
Last year, it was Lisboa (Portugal, strong recommendation for golf, country
and town!) and Tenerife, this year started with a cold trip to Tunisia in
February. "Somebody left the door to Europe open" a guide said (at home
there were freezing temps, they had 15 Celsius).
After playing every course in the Monastir area (strong recommendation for
Flamingo (Monastir) and Panorama Course (Port El Kantaoui)) I decided to
visit Hammamet (Citrus Golf!). What an adventure and how nice the courses
are!
Then, Great Britain, playing in Wales (Nefyn cliff top!!!) and Patshull
Park close to Birmingham for the usg bash. Lucky to receive some Port as
the second prize and no duties for 2010 ;->
In August, a week's trip to Scotland, reviving all the love I have for this
country and it's courses. We walked the Old Course and played Jubilee
(quite a fortunate arrangement IMHO) and played some of the less known
courses in the Fife area, our favourites being Leven Links and Burntisland,
a scenic and hilly parkland course. I'll be back!
Regarding my game, the highlight was a private round of gross +2 / +2,
topping some nice tournament experiences including a net +1 in a medal
tourney on a foreign course.
Ciao,
Paul
Holed out with a 9 iron in april in the rain for an eagle on my home
course #6 hole. Other then that never played particularly well.

I had a hole out from 180 yards this year. I only got a birdie
though.
Another shot went to 8 yards for my 2nd shot on a par-5, then I missed
the putt. My handicap gave me two strokes and I still didn't win
the hole.

Launching a crushing drive over the right hand trees on the 4th at
Middlemore, drawing back into the fairway, then getting on in two with
a 180m hybrid to a green tight behind a creek. Missed the eagle but I
had never got on that green in two before. I rarely attempt it because
of the creek and I'm usually at least 200m out after a decent drive.

Let's see .... I played a few rounds in Destin and I played with Bill-
o and some of his buddies at Canyon Ridge. That was about it.
Slow year, golf wise.

My best memory was what happened after a so-so round in August. A golf
buddy/fishing fanatic asked me if I still had my boat. Three hours later,
we boated two very nice Chinook salmon!
That was a perfect day.

That sounds like more of a fishing memory than a golf memory.

Was that this year? Yeah, chipping in on the final hole for yet
another birdie and looking at Sparky and asking, "Any Questions?" was
the highlight of my year.
His answer was the second highlight.
A man of few words, that Sparky.
Yes, that was golden, if only Mikey could have been there!
