So, do you have a good outlook for 2010? Or, just an outlook?
Personally, I expect a much improved year.
Nationally/globally, not so much.

> Nationally/globally, not so much.
Yeah, we still have three more years of "change you can believe in" coming.
That's only about 1/20 of the problem.
By no means did I mean to slight the stellar efforts of both houses of
congress doing their best to destroy the economy.
I think maybe it's time to look at who owns the politicians
rather than the politicians themselves.
The solution is that each taxy paying entity can contribute a maximum of
say $2500 to each declared candidate at the local, state and federal
level. If you or your organizaiton did not pay taxes on your federal IRS
tax return the previous year you are unable to contribute to declared
candidates.
Who do you think owns this current bunch?
I think it's time to rethink to whom we give the right to vote. Not that
this ever would happen.
someone would screech about 'free speech' just like they do every time
someone tries to bring sanity to the campaign contributions mess.
BTW, got this in email today and thought this was very appropriate for
the times and discussions :
Times are Tough
The economy is so bad that:
I got a pre-declined credit card in the mail
I ordered a burger at McDonald's and the kid behind the counter asked,
"Can you afford fries with that?"
CEO's are now playing miniature golf.
If the bank returns your check marked "Insufficient Funds," you call
them and ask if they meant you or them.
Hot Wheels and Matchbox stocks are trading higher than GM..
McDonald's is selling the 1/4 ouncer.
Parents in Beverly Hills fired their nannies and learned their
children's names.
A truckload of Americans was caught sneaking into Mexico
Dick Cheney took his stockbroker hunting.
Motel Six won't leave the light on anymore.
The Mafia is laying off judges.
Exxon-Mobil laid off 25 Congressmen.
Congress says they are looking into this Bernard Madoff scandal.
Oh Great!! The guy who made $50 Billion disappear is being investigated
by the people who made $1.5 Trillion disappear!
And, finally...
I was so depressed last night thinking about the economy, wars, jobs, my
savings, Social Security, retirement funds, etc., I called the Suicide
Lifeline. I got a call center in Pakistan , and when I told them I was
suicidal, they got all excited and asked if I could drive a truck.
I'll put it this way: how many people do you know who are
wealthy enough to afford to buy Congress?

George Soros comes to mind. But I suspect your beef is with special
interest groups representing various business interests rather than special
interest groups representing various other political interests.
I thought this current bunch was going to be the most transparent congress
and administration we had ever seen. Whoops.
Raise your hand if you didn't see that coming a mile away.
He is the multi-billionaire around the Democrat's neck.
What I don't understand is why non-Democrat billionaire's are frowned
upon but Democrat billionaire's are coddled.
I refuse to believe you don't understand, or that Frank
doesn't understand, what is plain to see all around us.
Spit it out. What is the biggest sized "evil corporation" in number of
employees, dollars in revenue, or your own category influence?
I think I'll take Goldman Sachs with the first pick of the
plutocracy draft.

The ascendancy of the corporate state is in its infancy. Nation states
are on the wane.
Do you think this is inevitable? It definitely feels tectonic
to me.

Who are you, Bellomy, more afraid of the evil government or evil
corporations?
In theory, we can replace our government.
>I thought this current bunch was going to be the most transparent congress
>and administration we had ever seen. Whoops.
You mean, it isn't absolutely clear to you who they are working for?

"In no part of the constitution is more wisdom to be found,
than in the clause which confides the question of war or peace
to the legislature, and not to the executive department."
- James Madison
Who exactly do you think they are working for?
> Who are you, Bellomy, more afraid of the evil government or evil
> corporations?
both when they work as a team

Then you must really dislike fascism... ;-)

Follow the money.
They are working for themselves primarily, which means they are
working for whomever gives them the most money. Look at how much
money was spent by the medical industry in the new medical package,
and look at who will benefit.
A side note, those who care most about anti-abortion should welcome
this new package, as currently most insurance companies will pay for
abortions. With more government control, they are voting away this
coverage.
