There hasn't been much news today in the AFL, but tomorrow there will be
several practice games. Anyway, today's news is:
-Eddie Hocking of the Adelaide Crows has been reported on viewing an incident
from the Crow's game against Collingwood. This is a controversial report
because it is the first time "trial-by-video" has been used in a practice
match. Eddie Hocking's tribunal hearing is at 5:30 pm AEST (=12:30 am Eastern
in the USA). Also, Peter Sumich (West Coast) may be reported for an incident
in Wednesday's Foster's Cup match.
-The AFL still has not reached a decision on Greg Williams' appeal to be
re-registered as an AFL player.
-Carlton has released Ian Herman and he will now be in the March Internal
Draft.
-Footscray is almost at full strength for tomorrow night's Foster's Cup match
against Adelaide. The Bulldogs will include former South Australian Shannon
Corcoran, 21, for the game even though he has not played a senior game in the
South Australian Football League. Adelaide does have injury problems, and
possible fatigue after Tuesday nights hectic game against Collingwood. Mark
Mickan (Ruck) has a strained shoulder, and John Klug (Center Half Forward)
has had arthroscopic surgery on his knee to remove bone fragments. The Crows
will regain Nigel Smart after suspension, but they will also lose Eddie
Hocking because of a knee injury.
