I hadn't seen how bad it was until now. Traffic is going to horrific

Not too familiar w/ the city - but to my eye, that looks like a really bad place for the freeway to be out of service for months

Traffic in Atlanta is bad enough that, after traveling through there
last Saturday, I had vowed never to use I-75 through there again. This
just redoubles the resolution....

Yep, that's the area where the city mostly grew over the last years, I'm pretty sure. Nowhere in Atlanta is much fun to drive anywhere near rush hour, but going north on I-85 out of downtown was pretty much a bear every time I've ever been on it.

I went to downtown Atlanta for a conference in October. My flight was cancelled because of t-storms so I drove. I arrived at 1:00 am. For the drive home several days later I left at 5:00 am.

I don't see what the fuss is about, traffic seemed OK to me :)

So glad I live in bham and not the cluster that is atlanta. Have to pay more for equivalent housing here to live in a safe area, but the city feels so much smaller and you can drive places and park and every trip to the city isn't a giant clusterrsfck.

LOL. Birmingham traffic can be just as bad as Atlanta.

on the distant parts of 280 sure....but thats easy to get around by just living where you dont have to drive down 280 during rush hour.

On malfunction junction and the interstates it can back up as well....but comparing that peak traffic to atlanta's worst interstates at rush hour is comparing pretty bad to very very bad.

That's a fair argument. The price of entry is living in Birmingham.

Or Homewood or MTN Brook can get you there quickly without interstates or 280

People are absolutely going to start moving out of that city due to this
and to previous and persistent traffic issues. I travel there frequently
to pick up quality bitches to turn out; they seem high class to Birmingham
hicks.

Not only that, but I have an uncle that lives there. Thank goodness he
and my step-auntie are retired as I have spoken with them and they say the
situation is horrendous. He lives in Marietta but, you know, all roads
lead to Atlanta.

You sound a lot like Tom Cruise from risky business.
