The only three countries on Earth that are not on board with the Paris Accord. And Nicaragua isn't because they wanted a stronger statement.

Nice company our country now hangs with. Thanks, Donald.

Rather irrelevant. What do people always care about what others do? Do
what is right for you.

Disagree, ken. The fact is, being part of the pact was largely symbolic for us. Dropping out is just a meaningless middle finger to the rest of the world.

Which trumps base is eating up. Apparently, they'd rather be the guy shooting hoops by himself - look at me, a total lone wolf, cool - rather than the captain of the varsity team.

All over the world, people are people and want the same things in life. At some point, well realize that we'd been misidentifying human exceptionalism as American exceptionalism all along.

Cheers.

I like the symbolism of the middle finger to the Socialist deadbeats
that run most of Europe.

When did the fat lady sing on this country's rejection of pursuing
another course of climate control?

A middle finger from the USA is far from meaningless. Eagles eat all
the little fish they want.

You are probably right. Those grapes you can't reach are surely sour.

So that's why they stay home instead of immigrating here.

Nancy Pelosi, the defacto leader of the Democrat party, said that God was
angry with Trump and would strike him deader than hell for murdering all
of America's baby children by not giving them air to breathe.

Actually, the Nicaraguans wanted a more rigorous climate pact rather
than the watered down "hope and change" pact that Paris represents.
Their reason for not signing was highly principled.

You are a gullible cock-knob. Money was the reason, silly. Get back to
me when you have a dollar amount for Nicaragua's payday from American
citizens. After that, get back to me with the amount that Nicaragua was
demanding.

The pact is completely symbolic in that it is non-binding on anybody. And, so far, almost no one is living up to their obligations (except for countries like Pakistan and China, who essentially made no commitment at all). It's main purpose is a cudgel to beat up the US for having too successful an economy. The proper response to the Lilliputians' attempt to tie down Gulliver is a hearty FU.

So let's piss off our (former) allies by quitting a "completely symbolic" pact? What's the benefit in doing that (other than pleasing the 30% or so of the population that forms his ever-shrinking base)?

In article <d49f011e-8d81-440d...@googlegroups.com>,
The benefit is money and another drag taken off those who build
stuff in the USA. Do not worry that our former allies will
flounce out in a huff. They'll be back in a minute and a huff
with hands out palm up. Best thing we can do for our allies is
to make mutually beneficial deals that will encourage them to
support their own industry.

You haven't explained how you expect them to "beat us" with something you describe as a "completely symbolic pact".

Truth is, nat gas was already gonna get us there, in terms of any "symbolic" obligation. At least, that's my understanding - welcome correction on that point.

Cheers.
